Position Overview: The Director of Engineering will provide strategic direction and oversight to our design team, which includes system, test, electrical/firmware, and CMOS engineers. This role combines technical leadership with strategic planning and operational excellence to drive innovation and ensure successful delivery of engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities: • Evolve our technology and product roadmap to meet market needs and execute internal Research and Development activities in support of the roadmap. • Enable CMOS design innovation and evaluate emerging technologies to maintain competitive advantage. • Support the front end of the business by guiding the preparation of proposal strategies, technical solutions, and cost estimates. • Oversee the execution and delivery of contracted programs, including successful milestone reviews, ensuring test readiness, and delivering test results on time to meet customer needs. • Maintain effective processes for engineering design, ensure compliance with AS9100 and internal controls, and drive accountability through Key Performance Indicators appropriate to the engineering function. • Build and mentor high-performing engineering teams, lead hiring and professional development efforts, and foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration. • Collaborate cross-functionally to align engineering output with business needs. • Own engineering budgets and resource planning, and establish and enforce engineering standards, policies, and procedures. • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Qualifications: • Technical degree (BS required, MS/PhD preferred) in a relevant discipline. • 10+ years of engineering experience in Aerospace & Defense, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. • Proven track record of delivering complex technical projects on time and within budget. • Strategic leadership experience working with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals and improvements. • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
