TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Director of Employee & Labor Relations in Newark, NJ, with our client, a leading organization committed to fostering a positive and compliant workplace culture. In this leadership role, youll oversee employee relations, labor relations, and performance development while partnering with unions to ensure compliance and engagement. Ideal for a strategic HR leader with hands-on experience in unionized environments.
Responsibilities as the Director of Employee & Labor Relations:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute employee relations strategies that foster collaboration, inclusion, and organizational engagement.
Labor Relations: Serve as the primary liaison with unions, overseeing grievances, negotiations, and compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
Employee Relations & Investigations: Address employee concerns, lead investigations, and ensure fair, consistent, and confidential resolutions.
Performance & Development: Manage performance systems and implement training programs that strengthen leadership, accountability, and compliance.
Policy & Compliance Oversight: Ensure consistent application of policies, labor agreements, and employment laws while managing unemployment claims and hearings.
Qualifications for the Director of Employee & Labor Relations:
Education: Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related field required (Masters degree preferred).
Experience: 5+ years of Human Resources experience, including 3 years in a management role overseeing employee relations, with labor relations and collective bargaining experience preferred.
Certification: HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR are strongly preferred.
Industry Knowledge: Proven experience in collective bargaining, grievance resolution, and labor law compliance within a unionized environment.
Skills & Attributes: Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and a commitment to fostering an equitable and high-performing workplace.
