Director of Electric Engineering and Design Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking a Director of Engineering and Design for our Energy-Electric sector to lead and manage a team of Electric Utility Transmission and Distribution professionals. The Director role is responsible for ensuring the quality and timeliness of engineering and design work completed by internal and third-party firms. This doer-seller role will support team development, help establish and maintain design standards, grow the business and earn new work, build strong relationships with client teams while ensuring all program goals and objectives are met within target dates and budget. The Director will lead a team of engineering and design personnel in all activities relating to the design, engineering and QC review and coordination of third-party design, permit support, materials integration and KPI tracking. This is a front-line leadership position. The successful candidate will be able to communicate clear expectations, goals, and vision; manage the performance of direct reports; motivate, coach and mentor skilled professionals and delegate project work. Must be capable of managing collaboration and conflict resolution to achieve successful results. Responsibilities Lead day to day oversight of production and quality assurance related to assigned design projects following standards, guidelines, and regulations. Develop, track, and maintain production, financial, and quality metrics for every phase of a given project. Ensure monthly targets set at the executive level are tracking, trending, and forecasted on schedule and within budget. Grow and develop contracts with existing clients and lead business development for new projects and clients. Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and stakeholders. Propose, document, and maintain continual process improvements to internal standard operating procedures. Contribute to the development and implementation of department and company goals. Identify and implement improvements in processes and operations to control costs and improve productivity. Troubleshoot both internal and client issues and resolve these promptly. Manage internal escalations and execute resolution of these items in a timely fashion. Provide mentoring to Designers, Design Engineers and Engineers with an emphasis on safety and quality. Qualifications Bachelors’ degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Structural Engineering or equivalent required; Master’s degree or Project Management (PMP) certification preferred CA Professional Engineering (PE) license required 10+ years of experience in Electric Utility Distribution and/or Transmission engineering and design required Business development experience and acumen with utilities and agencies highly preferred Experience in a managerial, supervisory, or training capacity preferred In depth knowledge of Electric Distribution and/or Transmission construction Knowledge in the following programs: PLS-CADD, AutoCAD based design systems, Pole loading analysis software Demonstrated project planning and management experience involving critical path analysis and scheduling to coordinate and prioritize workload Quick technical comprehension and motivation focused on client outcomes Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to communicate with clients and project teams Acumen to influence and motivate internal engineering and design team Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding, and frequently changing business environment and be able to make spontaneous decisions even with limited information High level of personal integrity and a strong work ethic Pay Range: $180,000 - $250,000 per year Work Environment: Hybrid 1-2 days per week in the San Diego, Santa Ana, or Los Angeles, CA office Visa Sponsorship: Legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship Physical Requirements: Ability to pass a pre-authorized physical including a drug-screening and background check Travel: Up to 10% travel in Southern CA Cordoba Corporation provides equal employment opportunities, promoting diversity and inclusion.
