FLSA: Exempt Status: Full-Time

Salary/Hourly Range: $65,000 - $80,000


About Operation Food Search:

Founded in 1981, Operation Food Search is a hunger relief organization that provides food, nutrition education and innovative programs in order to reduce food insecurity and increase equitable access to food. We serve 200,000 people every month through a network of 330 partners in 25 counties in Missouri and Illinois. We use a combination of immediate food assistance and supportive services, while also working on long-term solutions and systemic changes to help solve the problem of hunger.

Position Summary:

Operation Food Search is looking for a passionate and experienced fundraiser who loves connecting donors to mission and community impact. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of In-Kind Donations will lead OFS in securing $30 million+ in in-kind donations of primarily food, and some other products, annually. The Director of In-Kind Donations will cultivate and deepen relationships with existing food and product donors and will champion the process of securing new donors. Key relationships include local grocery partners, suppliers, farmers, food distributors, food manufacturing companies, OFS’s warehouse team, OFS’s communications team, etc. One direct report is the Food Donations Specialist.


Essential Functions:


Secure Food and other In-Kind Donations

· Accountable for creating and executing an annual plan to meet in-kind food donation targets

· Build and maintain relationships through face-to-face visits, meetings, tours and presentations with donors. Host food industry member visits and tours.

· Maintain a key contact database with all current and potential donors.

· Identify and initiate new donor relationships with food suppliers and relevant trade/industry organizations.

· Actively develop innovative partnerships that address food supply chain challenges (especially locally and regionally) and promote in-kind donations as the preferred solution for unmarketable/excess products.

· Identify promotional materials needed for building relationships with potential/existing donors and work with Communications to develop these tools.

· Work in collaboration with the Director of Distribution to manage the receiving, allocation, and distribution of OFS’s inventory of donated products, including oversight of partner pickups from retail partners.

· Collaborate and communicate with the Agency Advocate team to coordinate agency assignment of retail store pick-ups and ensure problems are resolved swiftly.

· Work collaboratively on Shop-Out Hunger, April Showers, Warner’s Warm Up, and other events related to in-kind donations


Donor Stewardship

· Develops and implements a creative and impactful annual stewardship plan for in-kind donations of food and other items

· Works collaboratively with the Communications team on social media, public relations, etc. as it relates to product donation stewardship


Budget Manger

· Develops and manages an annual budget for in-kind donations


Food Donor Advisory Board

· Serves as the staff liaison to the OFS Food Donor Advisory Board

· Recruit members, set up meeting dates, create agendas, lead follow-up, etc.


Education and/or Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree preferred, in marketing, business, sales, or non-profit management

· 5-7 years of progressive experience in non-profit fundraising or sales in the commercial food industry

· 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree preferred, in marketing, business, sales, or non-profit management

· Proven ability to plan, organize, and follow through on multiple projects, activities, and responsibilities to meet specific timelines with a proven record of acuity and agility

· Outstanding communication and presentation skills; ability to persuasively convey and build support for the mission of OFS to food/product donors, community partners, the public and others.

· Detail-oriented, organized, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced non-profit environment

· Strong computer skills with MS Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams

· Experience with Donor Perfect, warehouse management system, or other CRM systems


Special Requirements:

· Occasional travel required for meetings, events, and conferences

· Flexibility in working hours for occasional special events after-hours or weekend activities

· Willingness to volunteer for other OFS duties that don’t fall under regular job duties


Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

· Sedentary inside office work with limited exposure to weather conditions

· Ability to stand for extended periods of time, both indoors and outdoors
