Position Summary
This role is pivotal in driving philanthropic efforts and fostering community relationships at IndyHumane. As the Director of Development, you will lead a dynamic team responsible for marketing & communications, grants & signature initiatives, annual fund, corporate partnerships, and community outreach. This role holds a strategic focus on donor management, staff leadership, and community relations. This role will serve as the public face of the organization to all stakeholders, constituents and must function with the upmost professionalism.
Position Duties & Responsibilities: Development:
Develop and execute strategies to increase community and corporate engagement, building lasting relationships to enhance annual operating revenue.
Implement strategies for donor re-engagement and manage lapsing donor lists effectively.
Set and achieve fundraising goals, collaborating closely with the development team, board development committee and CEO to ensure objectives are met.
Working with manager of grants & special initiatives provide executive-level management for fundraising events, overseeing steering committee recruitment, sponsor prospecting, and collaboration with event consultants and vendors.
Work closely with community outreach coordinator. Provide support to fulfill these activities to determine potential development opportunities.
Oversee event budgets, ensuring financial stewardship aligns with IndyHumane guidelines and gift acceptance policies.
Working with annual fund manager ensure that maintenance of comprehensive records of revenue, corporate contacts, and engagement notes in the Virtuous database system.
Working closely with marketing & social media manager, establish annual marketing plans that provide timely promotional support for special initiatives, community outreach, and special events activities.
Present regular analysis dashboards to the CEO and board development committee.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required with a preference for a master’s degree in philanthropy or related business field.
2-3 years of experience in fundraising, event planning, sales, marketing or a related field with demonstrated success in building relationships and achieving goals.
Sound fiscal management and budgeting skills.
Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Canva, and Virtuous software is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to diverse constituencies.
Ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and function effectively in a high-stress environment
