Job Purpose and Impact The Director of Data Engineering leads a dynamic team responsible for the strategic and tactical development and maintenance of robust data solutions. You will ensure the effective management of data for analysis and reporting, driving impactful results. Essential Functions Establish and maintain effective data systems that support large, complex data products for reliable and accessible processing. Lead the creation of scalable, sustainable technical solutions using advanced big data and cloud technologies. Guide the design and development of data pipelines for seamless data movement from multiple sources to internal databases. Optimize data infrastructure and formats for enhanced readiness for analysis. Collaborate with partners to understand data needs, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Promote best practices in data management by championing new data framework concepts and architecture patterns. Lead the development and maintenance of automated reporting systems for timely insights and data-driven decision-making. Oversee data modeling to prepare data for analytics tools and improve data assets. Manage and develop team members by setting clear expectations, offering feedback, and fostering a culture of inclusivity and growth. Minimum and Typical Years of Work Experience A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is required; typically, this role involves 10 years or more of experience. Preferred Work Experience Experience as a data/software engineer with a focus on data modeling and pipeline engineering using cloud technologies. Proven ability to lead geographically diverse engineering teams within a global organization. Success in developing and managing partnerships with digital and business stakeholders. A track record of leading architectural strategies in a varied digital and data technology environment. Experience in spearheading transformation strategies encompassing people, processes, and technology. Strong knowledge of industry trends and best practices in data engineering for effective solutions. A proven history of advocating for new technologies and mentoring data engineers.
