Position Title: Director of Curriculum, Instructions and Operations Position Type: Full Time Start Date: 2025-08-01 Job Description: Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Operations About the School Harmony Academy is an innovative early education and elementary school committed to nurturing confident, caring, and curious learners through an internationally recognized curriculum and an integrative approach to Islamic values. The school launches in the academic year September 2025- June 2026 with a mixed-age Pre-K and Kindergarten classroom and plans to grow by adding one grade level, with the vision of becoming a full elementary program through grade 6. We are seeking a Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Operations to help establish, lead, and manage the schools academic program and daily operations during this critical founding phase and beyond. Position Summary The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Operations (DCIO) is a key member of the schools leadership team, responsible for shaping and implementing a high-quality instructional program, building the schools culture, and overseeing day-to-day operations. This role requires both strategic leadership and direct involvement in daily school life as we grow. In the first year, the DCIO will work closely with the Head of School and founding teachers to support an engaging, developmentally appropriate, and standards-aligned curriculum for the mixed-age Pre-K/K classroom, ensure excellence in instruction, and build the operational systems needed for a safe, smooth, and joyful learning environment. Qualifications Bachelors degree in education or related field required; Masters degree strongly preferred. At least 3-5 years of experience in early childhood and/or elementary education, including teaching and instructional leadership roles. Deep knowledge of early childhood development, elementary curriculum standards, and best practices in mixed-age classrooms. Familiarity with multiple literacy and math curricula and a variety of curricular approaches, with the ability to select and adapt programs to meet student and school needs. Experience supporting compliance with licensing, accreditation, and regulatory processes in early education or elementary settings. Proven ability to coach teachers and lead professional learning with strong knowledge of professional development resources and training methodologies. Strong organizational, operational, and project management skills. Flexibility, entrepreneurial spirit, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. General understanding of Islamic principles and values Key Responsibilities Curriculum and Instruction Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the schools curriculum, aligned with the schools educational philosophy and meeting or exceeding state standards. Draw on expertise with multiple curricular programs and approaches, particularly in early literacy and mathematics, to guide curriculum selection and adaptation. Support and coach teachers to implement best practices in early childhood and elementary instruction, including differentiated, culturally responsive teaching. Observe classrooms regularly, providing actionable feedback and facilitating professional growth for teachers. Ensure ongoing assessment of student progress and use of data to drive instruction and report progress to families and stakeholders. Collaborate with the Head of School to plan for future grade-level curriculum as the school grows. School Culture and Community Model and foster a positive, inclusive, and student-centered school culture. Build strong relationships with students, families, and staff to create a welcoming and collaborative community. Support the design and implementation of family engagement initiatives and communication plans. Operations Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, arrival/dismissal, supplies, attendance, and safety procedures. Support the Head of School in ensuring compliance with relevant early education and elementary licensing, accreditation, and regulatory standards. Coordinate with external vendors and service providers as needed. Assist with budget planning and monitoring for instructional and operational needs. Leadership and Strategic Planning Serve as a thought partner to the Head of School in planning for sustainable growth and continuous improvement. Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and training of faculty and staff. Lead special projects and initiatives as needed to support the schools mission and development.
