Job Description
Description:

Summary

The Director of Covenant Servant Leadership provides visionary, strategic, and pastoral leadership to guide the denomination in developing spiritually grounded, Covenant-aligned, and skillfully prepared lay leaders. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive lay leadership formation strategies—including discipling, coaching, training, and mentoring—in partnership across the local church, Conference, and Denomination (the "3-Strand Strong" model).

Essential Functions

1. Strategy & System Design

  • Develop Leadership Strategy: Design and execute a scalable, Spirit-led, and comprehensive leadership development system aligned with denominational strategy and sensitive to diverse local church contexts.
  • Curriculum & Resource Creation: Lead the creation of contextual and accessible development resources (curriculum, learning experiences, and tools) for lay leaders across various roles and learning styles, ensuring all content is "Covenant-shaped" and reinforces the denomination's core values.
  • Evaluation & Improvement: Establish and utilize feedback mechanisms and data to measure the effectiveness of all leadership development initiatives, continuously refining resources and delivery methods for maximum impact.

2. Partnership & Alignment

  • Cultivate 3-Strand Partnership: Build and maintain long-term, trust-based, collaborative relationships with leaders in local churches and Conferences to ensure shared ownership and successful execution of lay leader formation goals.
  • Organizational Diplomacy: Serve as a key collaborator, coordinating initiatives with other denominational ministries (e.g., Serve Clergy, Vitality) to ensure coherence, avoid siloing, and maximize organizational efficiency.
  • Lead Through Influence: Effectively guide and inspire adoption of leadership development practices across the denomination through relational influence, clarity, and strong communication rather than formal authority.
  • Cross-Cultural Navigation: Model and promote cross-cultural communication and contextual sensitivity, navigating theological, ethnic, and geographic diversity with humility and deep listening.

3. Program Execution

  • Oversee Program Delivery: Manage multi-phase initiatives, ensuring timely execution, accountability across teams, and the use of various platforms (LMS, online cohorts, intensives, coaching) to create engaging learning experiences.
  • Coaching & Mentoring: Personally invest in the development of key lay leaders through relational guidance, apprenticeship, and real-time support.
  • Communications & Marketing: Clearly articulate the mission and impact of Covenant Servant Leadership through compelling storytelling and communication strategies to inspire momentum and drive participation across the denomination.
