Director of Communications Hiring Summer 2025 Mission : Neighborhood Villages envisions a future in which all families have access to affordable, high-quality early education and care. About Neighborhood Villages: Neighborhood Villages is a Massachusetts-based systems-change non-profit working to create a future in which all families have access to affordable, high-quality early education and care. Collectively, NV's work is designed to bolster the capacity of the early education and care system, in Massachusetts and across the country, to: 1) Recruit, retain, and develop a professional workforce of early educators and administrators, 2) Support educator professional development and program quality to promote excellence in education and ensure that children reach developmental and literacy milestones, and 3) Meet the full-scope wraparound needs of vulnerable children and families to ensure that they enter classrooms ready to learn and to thrive. The Director of Communications, reporting to Senior Leadership, will be responsible for setting and executing on the vision for Neighborhood Villages' external communications and public relations strategy, understanding that excellent communications are key to the growth of the organization's impact, revenue, community, and platform. This position is pivotal in shaping the organization's narrative, engaging stakeholders, and ultimately, driving mission achievement. Duties and responsibilities are detailed below. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Develop a comprehensive strategy for external communications, with respect to Neighborhood Villages, its programming, and advancing public knowledge of and support for early education and care systems transformation Create, write, edit, and produce diverse communication materials and media, including press releases, publications, videos, collateral, newsletters, social media content, annual reports, and website copy, independently and in collaboration with other Neighborhood Villages team members Continuously evaluate communication materials and media to ensure they make Neighborhood Villages' work accessible to a variety of audiences Work closely with Development department to use external communications to drive donor engagement, increase revenue, and ensure consistent messaging across all external platforms Execute on the day-to-day implementation of the external communications strategy Develop clear metrics for success and evaluate the effectiveness of the external communications strategy on an ongoing basis Ensure all communications received by an external audience are clearly executed and error-free Develop key messages that effectively articulate Neighborhood Villages' mission, impact, and programming; Steward and manage Neighborhood Villages' brand identity, voice, and messaging consistency across all platforms Own the development and implementation of consistent and compelling brand guidelines and templates organization-wide Build and sustain relationships with media outlets to enhance Neighborhood Villages' external communications and increase press placements. Manage Neighborhood Villages' entire digital footprint, including website and social media Complete other activities and duties as assigned related to the communications work of Neighborhood Villages Qualifications: Bachelor's degree Minimum 5 years of experience in communications strategy and execution, including the effective use of social media platforms Demonstrated relationships with Massachusetts and national press Exceptional writing and communication skills Experience managing complex projects Ability to independently manage time and handle multiple tasks and priorities Attention to detail Strong ability to work in a collaborative environment Dual or multi-lingual applicants are encouraged to apply Compensation and Benefits: Neighborhood Villages is committed to providing competitive compensation and benefits commensurate with the professional qualifications and responsibilities of its staff. The salary range for this position is $88,000-$110,000.
