Summary
Family Service League is seeking a full-time Director of Development and Communications to join the Development Department. The Director will report to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing a comprehensive brand-based communications schedule. This includes ensuring that all agency materials are consistently branded, including E-News, social media, newsletters, the annual report, media inquiries, press releases, email signatures, thank-you correspondence, signage and plaques, direct mail campaigns, and more. The Director will oversee donor recognition efforts and supervise the Social Media Coordinator. Additional responsibilities include promoting new and existing programs, organizing ribbon cuttings and openings, and supporting the Development Department with events and initiatives through planning, inviting, and execution.

Responsibilities
The Director of Development and Communications is responsible for all aspects of agency communications, branding, messaging, and collateral.
Oversee creation of event materials, including invitations, journals, programs, and other related content.
Supervise the Social Media Coordinator and provide ongoing support and direction.
The Director of Development and Communications will collaborate with the Director of Development to create final event financial reports and budgets.
Help secure raffle prizes, awards, and gifts for fundraising and non-fundraising events.
Maintain event records and track comparative event income and expenses over time.
Coordinate list management and mailings with the Development Operations Manager.
The Director of Development and Communications will lead all event marketing, advertising, and digital outreach via social media and other platforms.
Plan and coordinate agency-wide events including public meetings, staff recognition events, and special meetings.
Support program-specific fundraisers such as Project T.O.Y. and Backpacks for Back to School.
Help identify and cultivate event donors and work to transition them into major givers to FSL.
The Director of Development and Communications will plan and implement direct mail campaigns, including the Annual Appeal and additional seasonal campaigns.
Assist the CDO with donor stewardship, honoree selection, and evaluating the effectiveness of fundraising programs.
Represent Family Service League at community events and those hosted by outside organizations.
Handle incoming media inquiries and coordinate responses on behalf of the agency.
Participate in internal committees and represent FSL through involvement in external professional networks.
The Director of Development and Communications will contribute to writing proposals and securing new sources of funding.
Evaluate and recommend strategies to broaden FSL’s public profile through print, digital, and media exposure.
Work with the Development Operations Manager to keep the agency website updated with current information.
Write and edit weekly e-newsletters, the annual report, agency newsletters, brochures, and other internal and external publications.
Coordinate production of print publications with printers and mail houses to meet delivery timelines.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a human services field is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
At least 5 years of experience in nonprofit event based fundraising including direct solicitation, marketing, and social media is required.
At least 5 years of prior supervisory experience is required.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising software, are required.
Excellent Verbal, Written, And Presentation Skills Are Required.
Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
Physical Requirments
Strong judgment and problem solving skills are required.
This position requires sitting and working at a computer for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
