POSITION DESCRIPTION: The BCBA is primarily responsible for assisting with the development of Positive Behavioral Support Plans, Behavior Modifying Medication Treatment Plans, a variety of data collection systems, and working with direct care staff and managers to enhance understanding and proper utilization of PBS plans and ensuring that individuals served receive appropriate and consistent support and guidance needed to achieve their own personal goals and to develop necessary skills and healthy behaviors. The BCBA will also maintain a caseload in adult services. The BCBA will also collaborate with outside agencies to assist with collaborative treatment goals. The BCBA is responsible for the oversight of PBS plans developed by Behavior Specialists working in adult services and takes an active role in agency-wide PBS implementation.
QUALIFICATIONS: Holds an active board certification with the BACB. Experience in program development, implementation and administration including clinical and practical experience serving adults with autism, developmental disabilities, and behavioral challenges. Position requires strong organizational skills, proven supervisory experience and the ability to communicate effectively. Ability to complete all initial and ongoing background checks including but not limited to: CORI, SORI, Fingerprinting, LEIE, driving record, E-Verify, Physical, PPD and licensing and/or certification checks (i.e., nursing). A valid US driver's license and ready access to a vehicle.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: Must maintain all certifications needed in the program including CPR, First Aid, Safe Techniques to Avoid Restraint and Training (START), and BFAIR Human Rights Training. May need to attend workshops, seminars or BFAIR functions as needed for job development.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Treat each individual, co-worker, supervisor and others with the respect and dignity to every human being and adhere to the Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDS) Human Rights Standards and the Disabled Persons Protection Commission's (DPPC) Mandated Reporter Guidelines around physical and emotional abuse, including the timely reporting of violations. Organize and lead special programs and groups in conjunction with clinical staff. Attend ISP meetings as requested, assist in the development of plans focused on the unique needs and goals of each individual, facilitate the development of behaviorally related implementation strategies/teaching plans, and supervise the training on, and implementation/documentation of, these programs in conjunction with site supervisors on an ongoing basis. Function as an appropriate role model through dress, speech, and actions both in the home and community to foster appropriate social relationships and skill development. Develop, implement, and oversee services designed to support adults with autism, developmental disabilities, and acquired brain injuries. Participate in development and implementation of PBS regulations put forth by DDS and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The includes but is not limited to monitoring of plan implementation fidelity, agency training and required agency meetings. Develop and supervise the training of and implementation of all PBS plans assigned to their caseload. Chair of assigned PBS support committee(s). Receive input regarding behavioral needs and interpret resulting PBS plans to each individual served and/or family/guardian(s), as appropriate. Cooperatively maintain lines of communication with the individuals served, their families/guardian(s), team members, consultants, and other pertinent BFAIR personnel, as appropriate, to ensure integration of services and quality programming. Consult with site staff and other team members, as needed, or requested, with regard to specific and general behavioral needs of the individuals served. Review observation and recording data in all applicable sites and provide feedback to staff as requested. Participate in collaboration with applicable departments in the adult referral and intake process. Meet with VP of Clinical or designee, monthly for individual supervision; attend staff meetings, and other meetings as assigned. Ensure implementation of all agency policies and procedures as specified in agency personnel policies handbook and program policies and procedures manual Foster and create liaison relationships with DDS, and other community partners to facilitate collaborative efforts and integration of services Contribute information to the Human Rights Committee as needed and support its efforts to monitor services and educate individuals, families, and staff. Consult with site staff as needed or requested with regard to specific and general behavioral concerns. Participate on all assigned agency-wide committees as assigned. Maintain accurate and complete records, reports, and data necessary to meet the requirements of DDS, CARF, BFAIR, and any other certifying or regulatory agency. Conduct in-service training classes as needed to include START training and certification, PBS overview and De-escalation as well as others as needed. Present START training as needed to funding agency for approval upon request Perform crisis intervention, as necessary Represent BFAIR as requested within the community and with other agencies /organizations with similar objectives. Arrange all staff PTO time off requests with the VP of Clinical. Vacation time must be requested at least two weeks prior to the desired date(s). In the case of illness, you must call out to your supervisor two hours prior to the start of your shift Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings as assigned; work shifts as assigned. Shifts may not be changed unless permission is received from supervisor prior to change Required to maintain certifications in all agency mandated trainings Accurately document all hours worked on the Agency electronic time management system. All timesheets must be submitted timely for approval which act as your electronic signature and approval. Time sheets should reflect employees assigned scheduled unless supervisor gave prior approval to alter assigned Schedule Responsible for maintaining current certification(s) including but not limited to START, CPR/FA, and MAP (if applicable to position). Responsible for completing all training assigned in electronic Learning Management System on time or attending any scheduled training. If unable to complete or attend it is the employee's responsibility to obtain prior authorization/permission to re-schedule training from Supervisor and notify Human Resources 29. Responsible for routinely checking electronic communications; including but not limited to time off management, BFAIR email, BFAIR portal, and electronic LMS system. These systems should be checked for each shift of your work Adhere to agency/personnel policies, DDS regulations, follow emergency procedures and maintain individual's confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA The agency reserves the right to revise existing schedules and/or program sites assignments, with notice due to the changing needs of the individuals served and program(s). Perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Clinical, or designee.
