Your Role
As the Director of Project Management, you provide strategic oversight and leadership for HCRN's Clinical Project Management team. You guide the execution of the clinical trial portfolio, ensuring quality, timelines, and deliverables are achieved across all studies. This role supports team development, drives process improvement, and represents the PM function at the organizational level. As a member of the HCRN Management Team, you also contribute to strategic planning and cross-departmental alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Team and Leadership Management
Supervise, mentor, and support the professional development of Clinical Project Managers
Design and implement training, tools, and SOPs to support PM consistency and efficiency
Monitor study assignments, workload distribution, and trial complexity across the PM team
Actively manage a portfolio of 3 – 5 oncology studies
Strategic and Cross-Functional Oversight
Serve as the senior escalation point for study-level and operational issues
Partner with internal teams to align study operations
Collaborate with investigators, sponsors, and funders to manage expectations and timelines
Contribute to organizational strategy and planning as part of the HCRN Management Team
Process Improvement and Portfolio Execution
Oversee study progress across the portfolio including enrollment and trial metrics
Identify and address gaps in workflow, role clarity, and cross-departmental communication
Lead initiatives to enhance quality, compliance, and team efficiency
Requirements: What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in a scientific, health-related, or related field (Master's preferred)
7+ years in clinical research, with 3+ years in project management leadership
Deep understanding of clinical trial operations and oncology trials
Experience managing staff and cross-functional teams
Proficiency with OnCore, CTMS, eTMF, and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills

Work Environment
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Direct Reports: 5 Project Managers, 1 Operations Associate
Status: Exempt
Office Location: Hoosier Cancer Research Network, 7676 Interactive Way, Suite 120, Indianapolis, Indiana with a hybrid 3/2 schedule.
Work week: 40+ hours/week
Travel: 10%
