Primary Purpose: The Director of Choice and Partnership Schools assists the Division of Student and School Support to support in the development a quality portfolio of schools by leveraging System of Great Schools, SB 1882 Partnerships, School Action Fund Grants, and other federal, state, and local programs. This position will collaborate in the creation of systems and processes that support the implementation of a vision for the future of school choices within ECISD which connects to the district’s broader vision for student success and considers academic goals, the diversity of student needs, building expectations for low-performing schools, and facilitating a desire for continuous improvement. Qualifications:
Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university Master’s degree in education administration or a related field (preferred) Special Knowledge/Skills:
General knowledge of overall district operations, district policies, and administrative regulations Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to thoughtfully collaborate with district staff, students, and families of diverse cultural and educational backgrounds Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to synthesize and easily communicate complex information Strong computer skills, including knowledge and proficient use of all Microsoft Office programs Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and accesptavle Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years successful leadership/administrative experience Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Collaborate with district leadership in order to develop a plan for the future of choices within ECISD which connects to the district’s broader vision for student success Collaborate with the office of Research, Evaluation and Accountability in the process of annual process of analyzing district portfolio of schools to identify where opportunities exist to implement school actions which will improve overall portfolio quality Support efforts of the Department of Choice Schools to launch, replicate, and expand high-performing and/or high-potential schools Collaborate with other team members to sustain the district’s vision for charter school authorization and new school expansion Conduct scenario analyses related to potential actions in schools eligible for intervention Lead the work to build and launch the ECISD “Call for Quality Schools,” which identifies the demand for high-quality educational options in ECISD and invites outside organizations to propose solutions to address existing needs Identify potential facility plans and enrollment implications for new schools and/or consolidations or transformations of existing schools Collaborate with Student and School Support team to ensure the alignment of enrollment and in-district partnership school authorization processes to district portfolio needs Identify and support potential new school investment opportunities (such as state and federal grants) that accelerate portfolio initiatives Compile quantitative and qualitative data and develop reports regarding the progress of our school initiatives to share with TEA, the ECISD Board of Trustees, and district administrative staff Conduct periodic campus visits to ECISD schools of choice and other portfolio schools in order to assess progress and provide direct support from the Student and School Support team Lead regular support calls with partnership schools, Special Project technical assistance providers, and other third parties which support the district’s school improvement efforts Develop and disseminate information about Schools of Choice to students, parents, and interested community members Coordinate the development of the Department of Choice Schools budget Administer the department budget, ensuring that funds are effective managed Oversee the work of the Office of Admissions, and supervise staff responsible for approving student transfers in accordance with Board Policy and administrative regulations Gather data related to schools of choice including, but not limited to, admissions, transfers, preferential assignments, hardship appeals, capacity and utilization Keep abreast of policy and state requirements regarding student enrollment guidelines Perform other duties as assigned Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Some districtwide and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged or irregular hours. Ability to work with frequent interruptions. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling. Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
