Director of Campus Recreation

: The person in this position will manage all aspects of a comprehensive campus recreation program, including, but not limited to, intramurals, recreation, group exercise, and off-campus adventure. Additionally, they will assist in oversight of all athletic facilities, including, but not limited to, scheduling of student staff, processing payroll, managing facility schedules, coordinating swipe card access, management of the Multi-Purpose Center (MPC), and updating calendaring systems. Furthermore, they will run game-day promotions for select home events and oversee departmental laundry operations. This role requires regular night and weekend hours.

Responsibilities :
Develops all aspects of an intramural and recreation program, including, but not limited to, organization of leagues and events, budget management, scheduling of student staff, and promotion of activities.
Oversees all aspects of group exercise programming and off-campus adventure events.
Plans and executes game-day giveaways and promotions during home athletic contests.
Hires, trains, and schedules all student officials and building staff employees to perform essential functions.
Supports the Assistant Director of Athletics for Facilities & Events in monitoring year-round use of all institutional athletic facilities while managing swipe card access to designated locations.
Serves as a liaison to several key campus partners, including, but not limited to, conference services, public safety, facilities, grounds, campus life, housekeeping, and select student organizations.
Serves as an evening facility manager with regular nightly hours while also managing departmental laundry operations throughout the year.
Contributes to the overall success of the Athletics Department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities may include event management, facility supervision, assigned administrative tasks, committee work, or representing the Athletics Department at conferences/meetings.
Qualifications :
Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred. Degree work in recreation management, sports management, fitness, physical education, or related fields from accredited college or university is preferred.
Work experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
Experience:
Minimum of two years of progressive collegiate administrative responsibility is preferred.
Previous experience working in intercollegiate athletics or campus recreation field is preferred.
Demonstrated leadership, vision, personnel, and management skills.
Demonstrated experience in managing or overseeing athletic or fitness facilities preferred.
Skills:
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills, whether dealing with individuals or groups, and an ability to work well with different constituents.
Strong initiative, detail, and follow-up skills with student workers, staff members, and administration.
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to set and achieve or exceed goals and meet deadlines.
Ability to learn and apply University policies and procedures to ensure operational compliance and reliable judgement.
General computer knowledge with a proficiency in Word and Excel.
Special Requirements:
Ability to work a flexible schedule expected.
Evening and weekend availability is required. This position will work regular evening hours throughout the year.
Flexibility with an evolving work environment is important.
Valid driver's license required.
Ability to successfully complete a background check, motor vehicle check, and drug test.
Current CPR, AED, and first aid certifications required. Training and recertification can be provided if necessary.
Compliance with NCAA Division III rules and regulations required.
Compliance with athletic conference rules and regulations required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move about campus and other locations.
Physical ability to include standing and/or walking for long periods, bending, kneeling and stooping, manual dexterity, and ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
Supervision:
Received: Position reports to the Associate Director of Athletics.
Given: Supervises wellness instructors as well as undergraduate and graduate student workers.
