Job Description:
Title: Director of Budgeting & Internal Reporting
Unit: Non-Unit Professional (NUP)

Reports to: Vice President of Finance and CFO

General Summary: The Director of Budgeting & Internal Reporting, reports directly to the Vice President of Finance and CFO, and is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of internal reporting systems and managing the organization's budgeting processes. This individual ensures financial transparency, drives process improvement, and fosters collaboration across departments to support strategic decision-making.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Budget Development & Oversight
Lead the annual organizational budgeting process, including timelines, templates, stakeholder engagement, and approvals. Collaborate with department leads to develop, monitor, and revise departmental and project budgets. Track actuals vs. budget and provide variance analysis on a regular basis. Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements. Develop budgetary controls for negative budget reports, budget transfers/additions, and systematic distribution of budget reports. Enhance payroll budgeting processes by developing more robust methodologies for full-time and part-time staffing projections. Collaborate with the budget accountant to implement and promote budgetary self-service functionality within Banner. Work toward the long-term goal of producing and publishing an annual budget book for MCC that promotes transparency and strategic alignment.
Internal Reporting & Analytics
Design, implement, and manage comprehensive internal reporting tools and dashboards to support organizational decision-making. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Develop and deliver regular reports to senior leadership, program managers, and other stakeholders. Ensure reports are timely, accurate, and aligned with strategic objectives. Become the subject matter expert (SME) for MCC's internal reporting tool, serving as the primary point person for developing and customizing internal reports that inform strategic and operational decision-making across the college. This includes creating high-quality reports and visualizations for executive leadership and board presentations.
Other Duties
Lead and support consistent process improvement efforts across reporting and budgeting functions to increase efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with institutional goals. Maintain and annually update internal policies, procedures, and documentation related to this position's areas of oversight. Collaborate with the finance team to develop and implement a financial framework for micro-credential programs, including budgeting, tracking, and reporting mechanisms. Work closely and frequently with the Comptroller to align on institutional financial strategy, compliance, and reporting. Train internal stakeholders on budget and reporting tools, processes, and compliance. Serves on internal and external committees, groups, and professional associations as needed and appropriate. Promotes and maintains responsive community relations. Maintains current knowledge of trends and practices in the field through peer association, attendance at seminars, study, and review of literature. Performs other related duties
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master's preferred). Minimum 5-7 years of experience in financial management or budgeting Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with financial software Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate across departments. Detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities. Knowledge of the College's needs in relation to financial affairs. Leadership, planning, management, organizational, and supervisory skills. Extensive knowledge of state and college accounting practices and procedures. Commitment to the mission and philosophy of the College with a strong understanding and respect for the goals of college activities. Ability to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs, and goals for the College. Ability to recognize College-wide priorities and work cooperatively to support their accomplishment. Ability to market programs and ideas; to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; to establish positive public relations, and to interact effectively with a wide variety of people.

Location: Bedford campus with occasional travel to Lowell as needed
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, schedule to be determined upon hire. This position will be eligible for a maximum of one day of telework in accordance with the College's telework policy .
