The Director of Advancement Data and Business Systems will be responsible for performing the highest level of systems administration for the Advancement constituent relationship management system, ESP, which requires knowledge of the University administrative organization, policies, procedures and practices and perform other related duties as required. It includes extensive work across the Advancement organization on both fundraising systems, analytics / reporting and information technology related projects and initiatives to ensure alignment with fundraising systems needs. Specifically, the Director of Advancement Data and Business Systems will assess and implement Advancement-wide systems needs by understanding business requirements and goals, insuring data and systems integrity, in order to meet the needs of the business within resources available through the Data and Business Systems team. Under general direction from the Executive Director of Prospect Development, the Director of Advancement Data and Business Systems is responsible for systems related administration, analysis and strategic insights for the fundraising operation as well as strategically coordinating, analyzing, and managing data enhancement, validation and incorporation initiatives for Advancement. The position is responsible for the successful implementation of business systems needs assessment and data delivery, including project team management, issues management, long-term resource planning acting as a liaison to technical staff, vendors and campus leadership, and ensuring that the implemented solution meets business user requirements and delivers the necessary business outcomes.More specifically, responsibilities include but are not be limited to: Fundraising Systems and Advancement Data Systems.- Provide guidance to supervised staff responsible for data entry and updates (the Data Resource Services team) and to the System Configurations / System Team - In consultation with Executive Director, develop ongoing system upgrade plan - In consultation with Executive Director, develop ongoing data expansion and hygiene program- Oversee data integrity and quality assurance processes- Serve as the point of contact for any ITS requests/issues related to Advancement systems such as for systems updates, ESR testing, User Acceptance Testing, etc. Advancement Systems and Reporting Leadership- Ensure all system / data support related IT projects are prioritized- Budget and financial preparation and ROI assessments- Develop and draft business cases- Documents and defines data enhancement strategies- Serve as the UC San Diego Advancement representative on the following campus or system wide groups: UC Data Managers- Advises Executive Director on the following Advancement data groups: IT Advisory Committee, Data Integrity Committee Systems and Reporting Analysis- Extensive research on technology, business models, business structures and other matters that require research and study and the synthesis of the research results into reports and recommendations- Work with subject matter experts to create scope of work and requirements documentation- Identify technology solutions for business requirements/strategies- Business process review, mapping and analysis- Advancement managing and testing of all ESP Customizations- CRM Queue Monitor- RADAR Queue Monitor Project Management- Project administration, planning, and follow-up including management of specific project plans and budgets when applicable- Develop and maintain spreadsheets, project lists, timelines and assignments- Manage stakeholder engagement- Lead Advancement project team- Monitor unassigned projects Advancement-wide The position will work in a consultative manner to understand the future business needs of Advancement, providing analytical, consulting and reporting support to fundraising operations as well as recommending new technologies and business processes, and delivering solutions that drive the desired outcomes. In-depth knowledge of business intelligence functions, advanced analytics, industry standards and best practices. In addition, in-depth knowledge of business data and systems functions and responsibilities.
Advanced knowledge and skill in internal databases, BI applications, tools, and systems. Thorough knowledge of business data integrity / enhancement processes, vendors, integrations and analysis.
Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage highly-complex information, assess problems, and develop effective solutions.
Advanced organizational and project management skills.
