Responsibilities
Located in South Central Virginia, The Hughes Center is a highly-structured psychiatric residential treatment facility for youth ages to with neurodevelopmental disorders. The Hughes Center also provides private, community-based educational services. We provide both individualized and holistic care for adolescents and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a nurturing, family-friendly environment. We utilize a multidisciplinary team approach to provide comprehensive evaluations and evidence-based treatment (and educational) interventions with the intent to increase each youth’s level of functional independence. Our team also works diligently to address or manage medical conditions and challenging behaviors that are often associated with individuals who are diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders. We challenge our residents to adapt to and apply learned skills within new environments and situations, and to maintain functional use of these skills when they return to their homes or other community-based settings. The  Director of Admissions will oversee all assessment and referral activities for the facility and provide direction to the staff for psychiatric assessment services, clinical evaluations, crisis intervention, and referrals. The Director of Admissions will oversee all reporting matrix for admissions for the facility to corporate and local facility affiliates, will work to build, maintain, and develop innovative referral processes with community stakeholders to best meet the community needs, and will work closely with the medical staff, department heads, administration, business office, and utilization management staff. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Job Requirements: Must be at least years of age Education & Experience:Master's Degree in Social Science, such as Counseling, Psychology, or Social WorkCurrent LPC or LCSW licensure status in Commonwealth of Virginia preferredMinimum of five years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting preferredDemonstrated experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, treatment planning, and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds requiredPrevious management experience required Demonstrated Knowledge of:Current psychiatric diagnostic and treatment terminologyCrisis intervention techniques, biopsychosocial assessments, mental status examinations, and clinical interviewVarious regional referral and funding sources(and ability to) Identify risk factors for violence and potential for violent behaviors Ability to assess suicidal/homicidal ideations Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; strong skill in the use of computer systems and software applications (including Office ) Ability to handle multiple competing tasks, with minimum supervision, and take initiative on matters of revolving urgency Some travel required Special Qualifications: Ability and willingness to work professionally in a team with other personnel, patients, families, etc. Must be able to successfully complete and pass all components of Handle With Care restraint training, Verbal De-escalation Crisis Intervention Training, and facility-approved First Aid/CPR/AED training Must be able to relate to and work with the mentally ill, disabled, emotionally upset, varying age populations, and at times, hostile people within the facility Must maintain high levels of personal integrity and willingness to be flexible with work schedule to meet facility needs Must maintain a safe environment at all times Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm Benefits : Home/Work Life Balance Excellent Medical, Dental, Vision, and Prescription Drug plans (k) Retirement Plan with company match Life Insurance Flexible Spending or Health Savings Account Generous Paid Time Off Career Development Opportunities within UHS and its subsidiaries A Challenging and Rewarding Work Environment Company stock purchase discount Employee Assistance Program Pay is Hourly (bi-weekly) and is commensurate with education and experience.
