Addison Group is working with our client in the architecture industry to find an experienced and strategic Director of Administration. This role is opening due to an upcoming retirement and presents an opportunity to step into a key leadership position with influence across HR, finance, and operations.
The Director of Administration oversees administrative functions including HR, finance, and vendor relations. Reporting to the President and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, this individual ensures the firm's internal operations run smoothly while fostering a productive and compliant workplace culture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading administrative, financial, and HR operations across the organization
- Supervising and developing a small team (3 direct reports)
- Overseeing employee relations, performance evaluations, and professional development
- Maintaining compliance with employment laws and regulatory requirements
- Managing vendor relationships and negotiating service agreements
- Participating in budgeting discussions and financial oversight (not primary owner of budget)
- Collaborating on organizational change initiatives and business process improvements
- Facilitating internal audits and ensuring accurate financial reporting
- Evaluating and enhancing benefits programs and compensation structures
- Supporting 401(k) plan administration and planning meetings
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field
- 10+ years of relevant experience in a professional setting (architecture industry preferred)
- Strong background in both HR and financial operations
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and related administrative tools
- Proven leadership skills and ability to manage shifting priorities and deadlines
Additional details:
- Full-time, direct hire
- Schedule: 4x9-hour days + half-day Fridays
- Must be on-site by 8:00 AM for 8:30 AM meetings
- One remote day may be offered (TuesThurs only, consistent weekly schedule required)
- Interview process: 2 rounds (1 in-person, 1 virtual), approx. 1.5 hours each
