We are seeking a Director of Accounting to join this dynamic finance team and contribute to our ongoing success. Director of Accounting Onsite with flexible scheduling Family-friendly, employee-first culture Competitive compensation Bonus & Equity Position Overview: The Director of Accounting will be responsible for overseeing the entire accounting function within the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and the efficiency of accounting processes across multiple manufacturing sites. This strategic leadership role will drive financial transparency, improve internal controls, and support decision-making at the executive level. The Director will lead a team of accounting professionals and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and executive leadership. Key Responsibilities: Lead and mentor the accounting department, including the recruitment, development, and performance management of staff. Foster a collaborative environment, driving performance, continuous improvement, and professional growth. Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other management reports. Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) as applicable. Manage the month-end and year-end closing process, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded and reconciled in a timely manner. Provide senior management with actionable insights into business performance. Develop, implement, and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial records. Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Support the budgeting and forecasting process by providing financial data, analysis, and insights. Work with department heads to align financial goals with operational objectives and drive cost optimization initiatives. Oversee tax compliance, including income, sales, and property taxes. Manage external audit processes, ensuring efficient communication with auditors and timely resolution of any issues. Manage the company’s ERP system and accounting software to streamline accounting processes, improve reporting accuracy, and ensure system integration across all business functions. Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Manufacturing Operations, HR, IT) to provide financial insights that drive operational efficiency, cost management, and profitability. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on financial matters. Identify areas for process improvement, implement best practices, and drive automation to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the accounting function. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) required Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably within a manufacturing or large-scale operational environment. Management of teams as large as 7-10 accounting associates Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, tax regulations, and internal controls. Proven experience managing teams, driving results, and partnering with senior leadership. Expertise in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. High attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities. Ability to adapt to changing regulations and business conditions. Experience with cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing financials is highly desirable.
