Compensation: $92,000 - $138,000 per year, depending on education and experience. Highly competitive benefits package.

Overview We are seeking a mission-focused individual with a strong accounting and financial reporting background to serve as Director of Accounting for a charitable organization. The Director of Accounting oversees activities related to budgeting, accounting and financial reporting and provides financial leadership for the charity’s largest agency, Family and Community Services. Direct reports include: Accounting Manager, Contract / Voucher Manager; Client Financial Analyst, Adult Guardianship Program. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial reporting with personnel and systems in partnership with the Chief Financial Officer.
Coordinate the timely preparation and distribution of all financial reports, including regulatory reporting, consolidated fiscal reports, quarterly and budget reports, and monthly/annual financial statements.
Coordinate scheduling and completion of the independent audit and other related external financial reports.
Maintain financial records and accounting systems to ensure compliance with regulations, GAAP, and contractual requirements.
Participate in development of financial projections and analysis to support agency decision making.
Develop, implement and enforce financial policies, procedures and internal controls; drive process improvements and best practices.
Maintain effective relationships with external parties and interface with regulatory agencies and funders to resolve payment and reporting issues.
Provide financial leadership including monthly close process and preparation of reports for the President & CEO, Finance Committee and Board; support for the Leadership Team.
Oversee annual operating and capital budgeting processes and the financial aspects of the adult guardianship program.
Oversee preparation and submission of vouchers to funders.
Qualifications
Education / Certification : Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or similar field required. Master’s degree preferred. CPA preferred.
Knowledge and Work Experience : Ten or more years of progressive not-for-profit finance and accounting experience; five or more years of manager or director level finance leadership experience.
Must have credibility to forge strong partnerships with senior leaders and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Proven track record of leading projects and teams and managing multiple priorities.
