The Director of Accounting will ensure that the Raba Kistner accounting operations and financial reporting teams are performing at a high level. The position is responsible for having the policies, procedures, internal controls, segregation of duties and systems in place to ensure smooth audits and the ability to sustain the continuous growth of the organization, including the integration of acquisitions. The Director of Accounting will provide opportunities for developing accounting staff knowledge and experience. The Director of Accounting will demonstrate an aptitude for efficiency, problem solving, resourcefulness, and the ability to lead and facilitate change. The ideal candidate for this position, will posses the following: Experience in the AEC industry Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Experience managing a large team Experience conducting internal audits Other responsibilities include: Work in collaboration with the CFO, the Financial Controller, the Payroll Manager and the finance and accounting staff to ensure smooth operation of the department. Oversee accounts payable, credit & collections, general ledger and project accounting teams Develop and maintain appropriate accounting policies and procedures Oversee all accounting transactions and ensure compliance with GAAP Oversee project accounting system Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and strategic financial modeling to support executive decision-making and long-term business planning. Manage consolidation and intercompany accounting Oversee month-end closing and analysis in conjunction with the CFO and the Financial Controller Coordinate with external auditors to meet required preliminary and year end timelines Hire, train, develop, and retain competent accounting staff members to align with company needs and growth In collaboration with the Financial Controller, be involved with the planning and budgeting process and systems to help provide oversight as needed Assist with M&A transaction in collaboration with the CFO and senior management of the firm Serve as liaison with parent company for matters related to corporate tax, financial reporting, internal controls, internal audit, and financial systems. Perform other duties as needed and as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (Master’s preferred) Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the management of accounting and finance. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential is preferred. Possess a valid driver’s license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet company’s auto insurability requirements Experience using an ERP system in the engineering and construction industry. Experience with ERP conversions. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and/or BST project accounting software is helpful. Advance skill level with Microsoft Office Suite. Able to develop strong, cooperative relationships with senior management of the firm Communicate both written and orally to present organized and thorough information to the intended audience.
