Purpose:
The Director of New Markets Product Development role will be a key driver in developing new products for emerging business opportunities at Athene. This role will leverage an entrepreneurial mindset to assess markets to impact Athene and Apollo's competitive advantages to develop new products. Extensive industry experience will be invaluable as you navigate complex challenges and drive innovation. Leveraging strong influence and communication skills, this role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape Athene’s product portfolio. Specifically, this role will focus on developing new products to serve markets that are adjacent to our existing offerings, including Defined Contributions, Institutional Products, and the RIA channel.
Accountabilities:
Lead development of initial product ideas that can be shared with potential partners.
Network with potential external partners to identify product solutions where Athene can assist.
Sets immediate and long-term strategic direction and drive innovation for new product roadmap.
Partner with internal cross-functional teams including Marketing, Sales, Legal, and Asset Management to initiate product launches.
Develop detailed business plans and work with management on decisions to invest in new areas.
Manage junior Product resources to assist in pricing, presentations, and legal documents.
Help draft product policy forms and legal documents with potential clients and external partners.
Lead execution of new ideas for all of Athene including drafting detailed product specifications, designing internal workflows, and serving as project leader.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
8+ years of insurance product development including experience with fixed or fixed indexed annuities.
Strong analytical skills including the ability to price products and develop business cases.
4+ years of proven leadership experience.
Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships externally and within the company.
Demonstrated passion for products that help address the retirement crisis.
Experience with Defined Contribution plans and/or Registered Investment Advisor channel a plus.
Strong presentation and communication skills.
Actuarial certification (FSA, ASA) or progress towards a plus.
