Job Description Lead comprehensive reviews of leveraged finance transactions, including LBOs, recapitalizations, dividend deals, and covenant-lite structures. Evaluate borrower creditworthiness, capital structure, cash flow sustainability, and sponsor strength. Assess risk rating accuracy, underwriting rigor, and adherence to internal policies and regulatory guidance (e.g., Interagency Guidance on Leveraged Lending). Analyze transaction terms, covenant packages, collateral coverage, and exit strategies. Identify emerging risks related to sector trends, macroeconomic shifts, and sponsor behavior. Prepare detailed review reports with findings, recommendations, and risk mitigation strategies. Present results to senior management, credit committees, and regulators as needed. Collaborate with leveraged finance originators, credit officers, and portfolio managers to validate risk assessments and promote sound credit practices. Monitor market developments, deal structures, and rating agency trends across leveraged credit. Contribute to the refinement of the credit review methodology for leveraged lending, including sampling, scoring, and reporting frameworks. The Successful Applicant Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred. 12+ years of experience in leveraged finance credit risk, underwriting, or credit review within a major commercial or investment bank. Deep understanding of leveraged lending structures, sponsor dynamics, and market conventions. Familiarity with regulatory expectations and leveraged lending guidance from OCC, FRB, and FDIC. Strong financial modeling and credit analysis skills, including cash flow forecasting and debt capacity assessment. Excellent writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex findings to senior stakeholders. Experience with credit systems and platforms (e.g., Moody's, S&P, Dealogic, or similar). Proven ability to lead reviews independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
