A great opportunity is now available to become a valuable member of the University Health Legal Department with a direct report to the Senior Vice President/ Chief Revenue Officer. We are recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of America's Best Hospitals. Position Summary Oversees the Legal Accounts Department (LAD) at University Health, including its personnel. Establishes, manages, and sustains systems and processes that adhere to legal standards for revenue recovery and access to records and information. Analyzes governmental regulations and statutes, offering legal guidance for the formulation, execution, and enforcement of University Health's policies and procedures. Designs and implements strategies to effectively secure reimbursements from third parties while planning work procedures, equipment, and staffing in a cost-efficient manner. Provides legal advice and collaborates closely with University Health Patient Billing Service, Patient Access, Managed Care, Revenue Process Improvement Team and other relevant departments to enhance revenue and ensure compliance. Five years as a licensed attorney and three years progressively responsible experience in Health Law or Collections required. Additional experience with health, auto, liability and indemnity insurance preferred as well as government assistance programs and bankruptcy. License to practice law in the State of Texas required Working knowledge of insurance and third-party payer options and benefits is required. Medical clinical background is preferred.
