SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary:  $110,000 – $130,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications
Benefits:  Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance with five different plans, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, voluntary insurance options, and a supplemental life program. Employees are entitled to sick time, vacation time, bereavement days, holidays, and longevity pay. Flexible spending accounts (FSA) or healthcare savings accounts (HSA) are available based on the elected medical plan. Additionally, retirement savings plans are provided through the State of Michigan Office of Retirement Services (ORS). These benefits are available after just one full day of employment.
We also offer educational expense reimbursement, coverage for professional organization dues and conference expenses, and other job-related expenses. (not applicable to all positions)

ROLE AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The Director, Instructional Support and Services, is responsible for leadership, facilitation and coordination of countywide academic support to improve student outcomes across Genesee County. The Director will work in coordination with the Assistant Superintendent for Education and Learning to lead systemic efforts in curriculum, assessment and instruction to support districts in the implementation of effective practices. The Director will lead countywide initiatives, networks, training and work groups that support local districts’ ability to effectively identify and implement priority standards, MTSS, literacy coaching and meet legislative literacy requirements. The Director will utilize their experience to effectively implement systems of support to increase countywide collaboration, coordination and collective efforts around improved outcomes for students.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to): Lead and coordinate countywide networks and work groups to support districts in implementing effective practices such as MTSS, coaching, identifying/unpacking priority standards, and K-12 Literacy/Dyslexia legislation
Supervise, evaluate and monitor progress of GISD literacy coaches including site and principal visits of participating districts
Assist in scheduling, placement, data collection review of GISD literacy coaches as well as monitoring systems of support for new and continuing coaches
Lead and coordinate curriculum review and adoption timeline for GISD Early Middle Colleges
Work in coordination with other GISD staff to provide a coordinated system of support around MTSS, literacy coaching, literacy initiatives and priority standards
Serve in a shared leadership role on the Countywide Professional Learning Planning Committee to improve reading and math outcomes
Utilize feedback from Planning Committee to help develop and finalize a 3-year plan of implementation to increase student outcomes in the county
Provide support, assistance and leadership to curriculum directors regarding grant organization and planning, setting up district wide systems of support and MICIP implementation
Lead and coordinate countywide social studies support including updates, curriculum resources and technology related to effective instructional practices
Provide shared leadership for countywide initiatives such as the spelling bee and academic league
Serve on the GISD Regional Implementation Team
Provide shared leadership in direction, coordination and evaluation of GISD Content Coordinators, and student programming initiative coordinators
Assist participating districts in the training, usage and implementation of Munetrix data system
Lead, train and coordinate a regular job embedded professional learning protocol such as instructional rounds, linking walks or learning labs throughout the county
Provide shared leadership in countywide professional learning initiatives
Serve and attend statewide associations and network groups
Assist the Assistant Superintendent for Education and Learning in the review, allocation and development of budget for support, programming and services.
Consistently models Win-Win leadership. Other Duties: Represents the GISD on county, regional and state committees as appropriate
Performs other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS
Education:  Master’s and Administrative degree required. Ed. Specialist and/or Doctorate Preferred. Valid Michigan teaching certificate.
Experience: Successful experience as a classroom teacher, local curriculum director (for a minimum of three years), in administration and evaluation of staff, grant planning and submission, serving in leadership role on a countywide committee preferred.
Skills/Other:
Demonstrated organizational skills. Ability to relate effectively through oral and written communications. Demonstrated mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the essential duties of the position and the ability to travel to and from the intermediate school district and the constituent school districts in the service area. Ability to work a flexible workday and work week. Ability to make decisions in accordance with board policies and established administrative operating procedures.
