Overview Director of Infection Prevention at California Hospital Medical Center, responsible for infection prevention and control practices across the hospital. Develop and maintain the hospital-wide IPC program to ensure high quality patient care and reduce infection risk to patients, staff, and the community.
Responsibilities
Oversee and direct all IPC activities under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer.
Lead surveillance for infections, monitor infectious disease trends, and develop, maintain, and update IPC policies and antimicrobial stewardship procedures.
Ensure timely and accurate NHSN reporting, Joint Commission readiness, proactive risk assessments, and data validation/management.
Plan and coordinate education for hospital staff and patients; collaborate with Infectious Disease physicians to investigate hospital-acquired infections.
Advocate for patient and environmental safety; maintain communication with clinical/non-clinical staff and hospital leadership.
Supervise IPC staff daily activities to ensure timely data reporting to hospital and system leadership as well as regulatory agencies.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor\'s degree in Science (Microbiology, Biology, Nursing, Public Health) required.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience in Nursing, Microbiology, Biology, or Public Health; minimum two (2) years as an Infection Preventionist in an acute care facility.
Liscensure
Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) by the CBIC to be obtained during the first two (2) years of hire.
Special Skills
Knowledge of infection prevention and control methods, ability to lead root cause analyses for HAIs and implement action plans.
Knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations; ability to comply with them in practice.
Ability to perform literature reviews to support performance improvement and practice changes.
Ability to develop educational programs on infection prevention for all staff levels.
Strong self-management, prioritization, and time management skills; professionalism in interpersonal interactions.
Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present data to leaders and staff at all levels.
Pay Pay Range: $65.97 - $98.13 / hour
