Responsible for the Health Information Management Department, including operations, document imaging, record processing, transcription, and coding. Ensures compliance with State and Federal regulatory requirements. Serves as a knowledge base in developing and maintaining the electronic health record. Promotes confidentiality and security of health information. Collaborates with Patient Financial Services and clinical departments to ensure accurate and timely coding to meet financial goals.
Education Bachelor's of Health Information Administration - Required
Experience 5-7 Years in Health Information Administration - Required
Experience with Coding, Electronic Health Record implementation, and Compliance for Healthcare
License & Certification RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or other H.I.M.-related credentials
Core Job Functions
Ensure areas maintaining patient information are compliant with regulatory agencies. Oversee timely submission of performance reviews by managers. Maintain fiscal responsibility for the departmental budget.
Lead the development of electronic documentation. Ensure relevant software applications perform as required.
Collaborate with Corporate Compliance to ensure policies and procedures regarding privacy, security, and confidentiality are followed. Oversee the release of information, ensuring contracted services adhere to health system policies and procedures.
Achieve days not final billed goals as established. Maintain processes to provide feedback to Patient Financial Services for failed claim edits, denials, audits, and other procedures necessary to meet financial objectives.
