Job description
Within the Global Relations and Regulatory Affairs team of La Caisse in the Americas and based in New York, NY, the successful candidate will help shape the development and implementation of La Caisse's investment strategies across the United States, Central and South America.
Reporting to the Global Relations and Regulatory Affairs team based in Montreal, with a dotted line to the Head of the Americas based in New York the Director will be responsible for supporting investment teams on the execution of their strategic priorities in the United States and broader Americas, conducting policy and regulatory analysis at the federal, state and local levels, and initiating and managing relationships across key stakeholder groups.
What you will do
As a member of the Global Relations and Regulatory Affairs team, you will: Initiate and maintain relationships with policymakers and regulators in Washington DC and within state and local governments most relevant for La Caisse's investments.
Provide real-time market, policy, and regulatory analytics to inform portfolio management, pipeline development, diligence, and risk mitigation.
Anticipate and support investment teams in navigating changes in policy and regulatory dynamics.
Work closely with asset classes to support their investment strategy and execution in the U.S. and across the Americas, providing intelligence, context, and connectivity.
In service of driving structured stakeholder and government engagement, you will: Prepare for and actively participate in meetings with partners in government, finance and investing in the region, advancing La Caisse's interests and visibility among decision-makers in key geographies of the Americas.
Contribute to media and communications for the Americas in partnership with the Public Affairs team.
In collaboration with Investment, Risk, and Legal Affairs, design and execute regulatory/government engagement plans on priority legislative and regulatory issues in the U.S. and across the region; clarify interfaces with external advisors as needed.
Develop and facilitate engagement with senior relationships with government (federal, state, and local), regulators, sovereign investors and public pension funds, development finance partners, and other market stakeholders-complementing relationships led by asset classes.
Draft and curate briefings, positioning notes, decision memos, and presentations for senior management.
Contribute to the drafting of communications products for leadership to reinforce strategic messages across the Americas.
What makes you unique Government relations, public policy and regulatory affairs experience, complemented by a strong understanding of finance and investment.

Strong ability to adapt to the internal cultural and develop solid internal relationships quickly.
What you bring Master's degree in a relevant field (public policy or administration, international relations, business, finance, law, or related).
10+ years of progressively responsible experience in relevant fields; experience working with/within investment organizations is an asset.
Demonstrated experience engaging U.S. federal and state stakeholders and/or regulators; familiarity with Americas-wide policy and regulatory dynamics.
Knowledge of multilateral development organizations and development finance partners is an asset.
Strong understanding of the investment cycle and how policy/regulation intersects with origination, execution, and portfolio value creation.
Outstanding analytical and writing skills; ability to produce concise, executive-ready materials and presentations (advanced PowerPoint skills).
Mastery of English (spoken and written); French is a strong asset; Spanish or Portuguese considered an asset for the Americas.

The average base salary for this role is US$ 180 000 plus benefits.
Actual compensation offered within the range will depend upon, among other factors: a candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience; actual ranges for current or former employees in the role; and market considerations.
The successful candidate might be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award.
