Generous paid time off plans Role Overview: Alameda Health System is hiring! This position will cover all Food & Nutrition across Alameda Health System. The Director of Food & Nutrition Services will work under the direction of the System VP of Support Services. The Director of Food and Nutrition Services plans, organizes, and directs the complex operations of the Alameda Health System Food and Nutrition Services Department. The Director is instrumental in establishing departmental policies and procedures, administrative direction, quality standards, safety practices, personnel utilization, and performance improvement activities in accordance with the mission and vision of the department and the Alameda County Medical Center. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE : The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification. Understand and execute all levels of productivity and overtime, daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly monitoring. Confers with departments, such as nursing and ancillary medical staff, regarding the technical, clinical, and administrative aspects of the Food and Nutrition service. Directs all procurement, preparation, quality, and serving of food to patients, visitors, guests, and hospital staff. Oversees the instructions, assignments, schedules, and evaluations of Food and Nutrition Services employees. Interviews, selects, and makes appropriate recommendations for disciplinary action regarding Food and Nutrition Services employees. Prepares reports and makes recommendations for hospital administration; develops, justifies, and administers the Food and Nutrition Services Departmental budget. Makes frequent inspections of all work, storage, and servicing areas to determine that regulations and directions governing the Food and Nutrition Services Department are followed. Reviews department performance and institutes changes in techniques or procedures to improve services, simplifies workflow, assures compliance with the regulatory requirements of JCAHO, Title 22, OSHA, and promotes more efficient operation of the Food and Nutrition Services Department. Develops standards of performance, determines areas of responsibility, assigns responsibility and accountability, and delegates authority to the managers, supervisors, and related professional staff. Develops policies and procedures governing safety, handling and storage of supplies, equipment, sanitation, and record keeping and compiling of reports. Facilitates regular staff meetings, ensures competencies, provides training and development necessary for Food and Nutrition employees. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree in clinical dietitian, Food and Nutrition Management, Institutional Food Management, Dietetics, Nutrition or other closely related field. Minimum Experience: Five to seven years full-time experience managing a large food service institution, preferably in an acute hospital environment. Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Current Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Required Licenses/Certifications: ServSafe Certificate.
