The Director, Estimating will be responsible for overseeing and leading a team of 6-8 estimators. This role involves managing the estimation process for various projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in cost assessments, and collaborating with other departments to support project planning and execution. Additionally, the individual will also be responsible for reviewing and supporting change orders from construction.
Role Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of 6-8 estimators, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities
Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for projects, including materials, labor, and equipment
Ensure that all estimates are accurate, comprehensive, and aligned with project requirements and company standards
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and ensure that estimates are based on the most current data
Review and analyze historical data and trends to improve the accuracy and reliability of future estimates
Develop and implement standardized estimation processes and tools to enhance efficiency and consistency
Monitor and report on the performance of the estimation team, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in estimation techniques and tools
Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, encouraging teamwork and open communication within the estimation team and with other departments
Job Requirements and Experiences:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 15 years experience in civil estimating, including a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity
Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned
Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
This role requires being hybrid 3x a week in either our Chicago, IL or Austin, TX offices.
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $180,000 - $220,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
