Job Summary and Qualifications
We are seeking an experienced healthcare leader to serve as Director of Emergency Services. This role is responsible for overseeing service delivery, staff development, resource allocation, and operational management to ensure high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department.
Responsibilities
Identify and resolve issues impacting emergency services, ensuring solutions are implemented and communicated effectively. Represent the department in hospital-wide committees and maintain clear communication with staff and stakeholders. Lead initiatives to enhance the patient experience within the Emergency Department. Provide coaching and performance feedback to team members; support individual development plans and document job performance. Uphold all Human Resource policies and standards. Communicate department and organization updates, policies, and industry information clearly to staff. Promote employee engagement using evidence-based practices. Build strong internal networks and professional relationships to support departmental and organizational goals. Conduct patient and staff rounding; mentor emerging leaders within the department. Enforce emergency care standards and implement quality assurance processes to maintain regulatory compliance. Design and evaluate programs to improve quality of care in alignment with the hospital's mission. Monitor and ensure compliance with safety protocols, regulatory guidelines, and hospital policies. Manage and improve performance indicators through a robust performance improvement program. Ensure operational excellence across the department by delivering services aligned with professional standards and institutional policies. Comply with exposure control protocols for bloodborne and airborne pathogens. Support recruitment and hiring efforts to attract and retain qualified emergency services staff. Perform additional duties as assigned by hospital leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required). Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (preferred). Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency services (required). Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role, with demonstrated success in metrics and operational outcomes (required). Strong performance indicators noted on résumé will enhance candidate review. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in applicable state (required). Certifications required: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC), and Basic Life Support (BLS).
