POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Development will proactively drive ASC growth through M&A, joint ventures, de novos and strategic partnerships in the state of Texas, with potential for additional territories in other states
The role will span the full business development lifecycle including sourcing, relationship development, and transaction execution
The position will develop and cultivate relationships with key decision makers including ASC owners, health system executives, and physicians
This is a high profile, high impact role that will routinely interact with senior leaders across the organization and act as the point person on key transactions
The role will be remote with a strong preference for candidates who live in Texas Work Schedule: REMOTE
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Act as a thought partner to VP of Development and Operations counterparts to shape growth strategies in their markets;
Develop and execute on market specific strategies to source acquisitions of ASCs, including broker relationships, cold calling, marketing campaigns, and other creative strategies as necessary;
Qualify leads and develop relationships with key decision makers to execute on the AMSURG M&A strategy;
Articulate the AMSURG value prop and business model to M&A targets and prospective partners in markets;
Work with VP of BD, Legal, and M&A team to create transaction structure, develop a pro forma/valuation, and negotiate key elements of transactions with counterparties;
Lead all aspects of a deal (sourcing, pricing, structuring, diligence, negotiation, closing) throughout the full transaction process from initial engagement to closing of the deal;
Serve as point person to drive collaboration across multiple functional areas and third party advisors (including outside counsel, bankers, valuation firms)
Manage team to create investment committee materials and present transactions to investment committee members (CEO, CFO, COO, etc) for approval
Manage lengthy timeline, complex transactions involving surgery centers and physician practices;
Ability to travel 50% nation-wide when appropriate. QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University with a minimum of eight (8) years documented successful experience as described above is required; MBA plus 6 years of experience would also be considered
Experience with M&A and other complex transactions required;
Documented results that demonstrate the ability to meet and exceed defined goals on an ongoing and consistent basis;
Ability to multi-task and manage numerous responsibilities at once;
Strong understanding of and experience implementing a consultative selling approach preferred.
Prior experience in Corporate Development in multi-site healthcare organizations or investment banking strongly preferred.
