THE POSITION:
The Director, Design will support innovation initiatives, support campus master planning, and provide support for a multi-phase, campus-scale construction project ensuring that cost-effective and energy efficient data center facilities are developed to meet the current and future needs of the company. Acting as the subject matter expert for project-wide data center design, the Director, Design Manager will advise and support the Vice President, Architecture and Senior Vice President, Innovation and Engineering.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support data center campus master planning Oversee the preparation and final approval of project contract documents produced by third-party design consultants. Ensures that project designs are completed on schedule and within budget. Provide design expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems for a large-scale data center construction project. Maintain and update the legacy and evolving Basis of Design documents. Provide support to the construction team for clash detection and conflict resolution (using Navisworks or other software). Provide support to the STACK Process team in implementing digital technologies. Manage multi-project design deviation logs to allow for trend and cost analysis. Work with the Process team to implement a database and tracker in Power BI. Work to provide automated solutions internally or with a third party to support expedited master planning and test-fits for the Development Team. Assist in the development of new basis of designs for emerging business needs. Identify, recommend and implement new technologies and systems to maximize the energy and cost efficiency of the company’s data centers. Communicate and implement design policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations. Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and building design trends related to the data center industry. Provide leadership for document management of the design documentation process through current and future project management software. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Possess a Master of Architecture OR Professional Engineering degree (structural, electrical, mechanical) Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) is desired Proficient in Bluebeam Revu, Revit, and ACAD Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint Have 5-8 years experience working in the Data Center Sector Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload to support internal business and development processes. Experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects Ensuring adherence to corporate and legal standards Ability to lead and manage teams effectively Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with various stakeholders Strong skills related to initiative and process improvements
THE DETAILS:
Location: Denver, CO preferred; Alternate STACK data center locations considered Travel: Some domestic travel required, estimated 25-33% Compensation: $200,000 - $220,000/year + target bonus Must be eligible to work in the United States Must pass comprehensive background screening
