Your Role
As part of the Americas Customer Applications organization within Commercial Americas, you will lead the Downstream team responsible for executing strategic and tactical initiatives and drive market growth for MilliporeSigma. The expectations of the role include supporting ongoing sales opportunities, driving seeding activities, consulting on navigating successful commercial outcomes throughout each stage of the sale cycle, partnering with Regional Commercial Teams for Regional tactical planning, lead internal capabilities building initiatives and influencing Senior Leadership. Your team will consist of Downstream Specialists who are experts in BioProcess Technologies and Commercial Skills. You will leverage your leadership skills and strategic insights to collaborate effectively with business partners to enable the success of Commercial Americas.
The role will report to the Americas Customer Applications Director and will collaborate closely with other regional and global partners.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Development:
- Develop and Lead a team of Downstream Product and Applications Specialists, ensuring they are motivated, engaged, and aligned with team and organizational goals.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to support team members in their professional development, ensuring all team members have active Individual Development Plans (IDPs).
- Allocate resources appropriately to maximize growth within the region.
Strategic Collaboration:
- Partner with commercial and other Customer Applications (CA) teams to develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies and enablement for Commercial Americas Teams.
- Coordinate with Business Partners across Process Solutions and ISCO to deliver on Strategic and Tactical Initiatives.
Market and Industry Insight:
- Utilize your understanding of current industry drivers, trends, and competition dynamics to identify strategic opportunities for market share growth and business expansion.
- Compile and report competitor activities and emergent customer needs to inform and advance Process Solutions product development strategy.
Customer and Commercial Engagement:
- Ensure successful brand awareness and positioning of MilliporeSigma’s products for Pharma/Biotech throughout your assigned Region.
- Support the introduction of new products to enable product positioning and selling strategies are well understood and executed throughout your assigned Region.
- Build relationships and networks with industry decision-makers and opinion leaders to maintain and grow MilliporeSigma’s market and mind share.
Operational Excellence:
- Enable seamless collaboration with Commercial Teams to develop and maintain capabilities necessary for success of the Commercial Teams for each stage of the sales cycle.
- Create a team environment that drives the commercial teams to identify and nurture opportunities, focusing on Competitive Conversion (CoCo), New Product Sales (NPS), Product Adoption (PA), and year over year revenue growth.
- Bring customer and commercial feedback to leadership, business, and strategy teams to implement best practices and close gaps.
Technical and Product Expertise:
- Ensure Team can maintain technical excellence in relevant Downstream Technologies
- Ensure identification, development, and delivery of upskilling activities for your Team
- Enable your Team to Present MilliporeSigma’s Process Solutions Technology expertise to customers and participate in high-level networking through both face-to-face and virtual interactions.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, BioScience, Engineering or a related field
Proven experience in a Commercial leadership role, preferably within the life sciences or biopharmaceutical industry
Strong understanding of BioProcess Technologies and market dynamics
8+ years in customer facing roles
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in related field
Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills
Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Technical proficiency in marketing tools and platforms, as well as Salesforce or similar CRM systems
This role can be located anywhere in the US but requires routine travel to meet with customers and attend industry events.
Pay Range for this position: $159,700 - $247,800
Our ranges are derived from several sources, and largely reliant on relevant industry market data. Should we decide to make an offer, we will consider several factors, including but not limited to your location, skills, experience, career level, and other job-related factors.
