What Is Cool About This Job
As our Director of Content Marketing, you’ll be a dynamic, performance-driven leader within our marketing team. You’ll oversee a team of 5 people within the content marketing function and guide both the vision and execution of our content marketing strategy.
Leadership & Collaboration
You’ll manage and inspire your team, leveraging strong people leadership and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll work closely with segment marketing owners and other stakeholders to develop integrated plans that align with business priorities.
Content Strategy & Storytelling
You’ll plan and execute high-impact content strategies that drive engagement, conversions, and brand visibility. You’ll bring strong storytelling skills to craft narratives that resonate across personas, their buyer’s journeys, and that scale across content types.
Analytics & Performance
You’ll turn data into insights to optimize content performance. You’ll define KPIs that reflect both traditional content outcomes and emerging expectations in the AI era.
Innovation & the Future of Content
As AI reshapes the content landscape, you’ll keep us ahead of the curve. You understand that today’s content must do double duty: influence human decisions and inform AI systems. You’ll help us produce content that’s built for scale, performance, and long-term authority, powering both audience engagement and discoverability in the age of large language models.
The Day to Day
Develop and Execute Content Strategy: Craft and implement comprehensive content strategies that align with WP Engine’s target segments, brand authority themes, and organic growth objectives across owned channels.
Oversee Content Creation: Lead the production of high-quality content—including blog articles, multimedia assets, and more—ensuring content resonates with the target audience and supports SEO initiatives.
Maintain Content Excellence: Serve as lead editor, upholding standards for quality, consistency, and relevance.
Team Leadership: Mentor, inspire, and manage a team of content marketers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Content Calendar Management: Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent publishing and alignment with marketing campaigns.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product and other marketing teams to align content efforts with overall business objectives.
Stay Ahead of Trends: Keep abreast of the latest content marketing trends, technologies, and AI advancements.
Content Distribution: Develop and manage a content distribution strategy to maximize reach and impact.
Performance Analysis: Provide ongoing analysis and reporting on organic content performance, delivering insights on business impact each month.
Budget Oversight: Manage the content marketing budget, allocate resources effectively, and ensure strong ROI.
Performance Metrics/KPIs
Organic site traffic
Content engagement (time on page, scroll depth, downloads, shares)
Conversion rates (chats, form submissions, subscribers)
SEO Performance in partnership with Acquisition Marketing (CTR, Organic Keyword Rank, Organic Search Traffic, Impressions, Domain Authority)
Your Expertise and Passions
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field;
Established leader with at least three years in a management position.
Proven success in leading content marketing teams to deliver measurable results.
Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Creative thinker and storyteller with a passion for content creation.
Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Previous experience in both consumer and Tech SaaS industries is advantageous.

The targeted starting base salary for this role is $175,000, within the full compensation band for the position.

Base Salary Range
$144,000.00 - $216,000.00 We believe that compensation should be reflective of the impact you have within the organization relative to the market value of your role. The estimated base salary range for this position is as listed above. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Our salary ranges are determined by job role and responsibilities and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for salaries for the position nationwide. The actual base pay will vary based on various factors including job-related skills and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process.
