PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Director, Clinical Operations is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant clinical support operations. This role manages vaccine inventory and compliance, oversees back-office workflows, and supports value-based care initiatives through care coordination and quality measure tracking. The ideal candidate will combine strong clinical knowledge with leadership and organizational skills to optimize patient care and staff performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Vaccine Management
Oversee all aspects of vaccine management, including ordering, inventory tracking, and reconciliation.
Ensure proper storage, handling, and documentation of vaccines, including monitoring and responding to temperature excursions.
Maintain compliance with Vaccine for Children (VFC) program requirements, state regulations, and organizational policies.
Oversee training and monitoring of staff on vaccine administration processes and protocols.
Clinical Operations & Staff Oversight
Provide oversight and guidance to back office clinical staff regarding lab testing, specimen handling, procedures, and vaccine administration.
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure safe, efficient, and standardized clinical operations.
Collaborate with providers and clinical leadership to identify opportunities for process improvements.
Serve as a resource for troubleshooting and resolving operational issues in the back office.
Value-Based Care & Care Coordination
Support value-based care initiatives by assisting with care coordination, tracking quality metrics, and ensuring timely follow-up on patient needs.
Work closely with care teams to support preventive care, chronic disease management, and care gap closure.
Monitor and report on performance measures relevant to value-based care programs.
Compliance & Quality
Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA, VFC and other applicable standards and regulations.
Maintain documentation and audit readiness for internal and external reviews.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support staff training/education.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
P&P, Vaccine Management, Clinical Management Team
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Licensed Practical Nurse Certification required, Masters preferred.
LICENSURE: RN or LPN required in any of the following states: CA, AZ, TX, FL, NY, PA, NJ.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 10 years of experience in a clinical setting required, with prior experience in vaccine management strongly preferred.
Minimum 2 years in management required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of VFC requirements, vaccine storage/handling guidelines, and clinical quality measures.
Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
Experience with value-based care programs or care coordination a plus.
Proficient working in EHR systems
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Full time remote with some travel to clinic sites, must be based.
