MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. Master’s degree in related field required.
Licenses/Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license required; Nursing Specialty Certification, required (Can include Nursing Professional Development (NPD).
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Two (2) years nursing experience required
Five (5) years' experience in nursing clinical education and professional development environment required
Five (5) years' experience in a formal management role required
Effective oral and written communication skills
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Directs the daily and strategic clinical education operations for assigned Memorial Hermann facilities.
Reviews and approves all new hires, establishes and controls standards for performance appraisals; works with managers to identify staffing needs and provides for accordingly.
Works with service line leaders and managers to establish clinical education goals and strategic plan.
Stays up-to-date on new developments in the field.
Reviews departmental policies, procedures, and systems.
Administers departmental budget and reviews financial records on expenditures.
Provides leadership in curriculum design, instructional delivery, accreditation, and learning assessments.
Evaluates program performance and ensures that all related federal, state and regulatory requirements are met.
Advocates for organizational support of ongoing development for all healthcare staff.
Oversees the development of clinical education and training quality evaluation tools.
Interfaces with leadership and staff throughout the system in addressing training and education needs of employees.
Participates in the development of a Continuous Quality Improvement program for all levels of employees.
Coordintes developmental methodologies from not only a hospital but a system perspective.
Directs the development and implementation of clinical education and training programs for all clinical staff.
Fosters collaborative partnerships to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness and outcomes.
Builds external relationships with vendors and community partners as appropriate.
Provides leadership support for department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as a resource to less experienced staff.
