Overview Stanford Health Care is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Category Management to lead the sourcing team with a focus on direct category management. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the category management team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Develop and communicate a clear vision and guiding principles for the sourcing team, fostering engagement and collaboration.
Drive initiatives to achieve non-labor spend targets, ensuring effective management of medical supplies, equipment, and services.
Assess team members\' skills and provide opportunities for professional development, enabling them to excel in their roles.
Conduct regular check-ins and performance evaluations to maintain high accountability while nurturing a supportive team culture.
Collaborate with stakeholders to align on goals and ensure effective communication across departments.
Able to temporarily assume responsibilities of Admin Director when they are unavailable.
Develops and encourages strong relationships with customer base, identifying opportunities to improve service levels and processes to achieve high customer satisfaction.
Develops and implements performance measures and quality measures to ensure high service levels while maintaining cost effectiveness.
Ensures coordination across disparate systems supporting Stanford Medicine Supply Chain, including Vendor, Item and Contracts Master.
Partners with Purchasing, Master Data Management, and Accounts Payable to ensure accuracy of vendor files.
Creates strategies and tactical planning around the implementation of process and technology improvements.
Monitors key performance indicators and financial reports to ensure compliance with budgets and standards.
Champions projects and initiatives with cross-departmental impact.
Supports Admin Director as responsible party for managing day-to-day Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) relationship.
Leads team to ensure all GPO contracts align with appropriate tier levels, are accurate, including item-level pricing is accurate and consistent across all supply chain systems.
Oversees contract formation with critical vendors, including negotiation, administration, and ongoing management of vendor relationships, ensuring vendors’ performance meet enterprise expectations.
Aggregates, monitors, and manages key metrics and essential information, reporting same to Administrative Director, Procurement Ops & Strategy – using same to develop and drive strategic initiatives and projects.
Provides senior leadership over the NLS Management Subcommittees to achieve targeted success.
Leads aggressive savings initiatives across all supported Stanford Medicine entities to achieve high value and positively impact the hospitals’ bottom line. Documents and communicates savings success and engages end users in needed process change or product conversion.
Works closely with key stakeholders to develop effective cost reduction strategies; leading teams to analyze products, services and contracts with the goal of attaining the best value decision.
Using the Value Based Selection (VBS) framework, oversees the VBS Program, including driving new product requests and tracking the evaluation processes.
Directs team activities with contract administration, price analysis and vendor negotiations.
Monitors, evaluates, and manages contract volume, supply chain information system performance, and value based selection reporting and outcomes.
Responsible for the team that manages recalls of medical surgical products, partnering with external departments to maintain efficient and effective product recall process across continuum.
Leads, monitors and participates in Supply Chain and Health Care related organizations, learning from other organizations’ successes, demonstrating where SHC/LPCH,VC Supply Chain is leading change and participating in defining global standards in health care Supply Chain.
Provides ongoing leadership, coaching and mentoring to staff, including timely performance evaluations, employee engagement activities, disciplinary action, and hiring/termination requirements.
Develops and mentors staff so that they are continuously challenged to add value through their actions and to embody a customer service spirit.
Leads and facilitates implementation of new or modified policies and procedures based on hospital best practices and compliance with Federal, State, and regulatory agencies. Ensures policies are followed across the organization through education to hospital departments and coordination with Finance, Compliance, Office of General Counsel, and Risk Management.
Develops and monitors Supplier Relations (formerly Vendor Management), including policies, electronic vendor management applications, and other vendor management tools as implemented.
Serves as Supply Chain leader on emergency purchase needs, including disaster response.
Regularly presents to internal and external stakeholders.
Performs other related and incidental duties as needed or assigned.
Education Qualifications Bachelor\'s Degree Required
Master\'s Degree Preferred
Experience Qualifications Ten (10) years of related work experience in Value Analysis, Contract Administration, Vendor Management, Procurement and/or Sourcing. With Masters degree, seven (7) years of related work experience as outlined above.

Minimum five (5) years experience leading high performing, goals-oriented teams
Healthcare experience highly desirable.
Experience working with a GPO preferred.
Experience managing large-scale initiatives a plus.
Experience simultaneously managing multiple initiatives essential.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $89.01 - $117.94 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected will be set based on factors including internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
