The Security Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the security personnel and operations for the institution. The position is responsible for ensuring the safety of patients, staff, visitors, and assets. This role involves strategic planning, policy development, training, risk assessment, emergency preparedness, and coordination with university police to maintain a secure environment. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
Education Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field Additional years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of stated degree requirement
Experience 5 years or more of Security Management experience, preferably in a healthcare setting Knowledge of healthcare security best practices, regulatory requirements, and emergency response planning
Preferred Licenses and Certifications CHPA – Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator certification is a plus JOB DUTIES Security Management: Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and protocols in alignment with healthcare regulations and industry best practices.
Risk Assessment: Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and oversee emergency response plans, ensuring readiness for incidents such as active threats, natural disasters, and medical emergencies.
Staff Supervision: Lead and manage the security team, including supervisors and managers, coordinate hiring, direct training, ensure scheduling, and performance evaluations.
Collaboration: Work closely with hospital administration, clinical leadership and University Police leaders, to enhance security operations.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA requirements.
Budget Management: Develop and manage the security division’s budget, including equipment procurement, employee compensation and staff training programs.
Community Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with community partners to support institutional security initiatives. SECURITY AND EEO STATEMENT
