Director Business Excellence

The Director of Business Excellence will lead enterprise-wide initiatives focused on operational efficiency, process optimization, and cross-functional integration. This position will serve as a key strategic partner overseeing major project implementations, process reengineering efforts, and enterprise transformation activities that support organizational growth and performance. The Director will be skilled in driving PMO strategies across complex, multi-entity environments and work closely with IT, Revenue Cycle, PMO, business leaders to ensure successful execution of complex initiatives using industry best practices, including Agile project management, Lean Six Sigma, and enterprise integration frameworks. The Director will work with the VP of Operational Excellence (this title will change) to create systemness among all entities currently managing projects.
Primary Responsibilities

Lead large-scale business transformation projects, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and strategic priorities.
Partner with cross-functional leaders to assess, design, and implement process improvement and reengineering efforts across business units, with emphasis on IT, Revenue Cycle, and enterprise operations.
Provide leadership and oversight for large-scale ERP implementations, system integrations, and process automation initiatives.
Collaborate with the PMO to establish governance, project controls, and portfolio management standards.
Apply Six Sigma, Lean, and Agile methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
Serve as a trusted advisor to project managers, providing data-driven insights and recommendations to inform executive decision-making.
Oversee risk management and change management strategies throughout all phases of project execution.
Monitor, measure, and report on key performance indicators related to business excellence initiatives.
Facilitate integration efforts across business units in support of enterprise-wide change and growth initiatives.
Serve as a resource for best practices in project execution, governance, and operational improvement.
Occasional travel based on project requirements and leadership engagements within the state of MD.
Qualifications
Education & Experience - Required
Graduate degree (Master’s or higher) in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field required.
PMP (Project Management Professional) certification required.
Six Sigma certification required (Black Belt or equivalent experience strongly preferred).
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience leading business operations, process improvement, and enterprise-level project management.
Experience in large, complex industries with net revenue of $5B+.
Education & Experience - Preferred
Experience in highly regulated or complex industries (such as healthcare, telephony technology).
Change management expertise strongly preferred.
Experience with enterprise data analytics and business intelligence platforms.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proven leadership in large-scale ERP implementations and enterprise system integrations.
Strong understanding of revenue cycle operations, financial controls, risk management, and enterprise change management.
Experience working within PMO frameworks and leading cross-functional initiatives.
Expertise with Agile project management methodologies.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to engage with executive leadership and navigate highly matrixed environments.
