Director and Senior Fellow, Africa Program
Carnegie Endowment for International Peace
The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a unique global network of policy research centers, is searching for a dynamic Africa policy expert to lead its DC-based Africa program.
Working in a collaborative fashion with Carnegie's other regional and functional programs, the Africa Program provides penetrating analysis on Africa's evolving political and economic realities and interactions with key global actors and trendlines. The Program aims to generate fresh thinking and new policy approaches relating to technology, economics, geopolitics, governance, energy, and other issues vital to Africa's future. Like other Carnegie regional programs, the Africa Program aims to combine a strong grounding in local perspectives with wide reach among global policy makers.
Preferred candidates will combine top-notch analytic, writing, convening, and communication skills, with a track record of shaping and leading a robust research agenda. They should also have proven managerial savvy, entrepreneurship, and fundraising skills. Senior-level experience, credibility, and reach in the U.S. policy community as well as with key official, scholarly, and business actors in Africa highly desirable. PhD or equivalent preferred.
Located in Dupont Circle, Washington, DC with travel, we offer an outstanding benefits package including health insurance benefits. This is not a remote position. Carnegie employees are required to work in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and can work from home Mondays and Fridays.
