Job Description
Pima Medical Institute is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Medical Sonography Clinical Director to join our El Paso campus . In this role, you will oversee clinical education, ensure program compliance, and provide hands-on instruction to prepare students for successful careers in sonography.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Coordination & Education
Secure and maintain clinical partnerships with local healthcare facilities
Monitor student progress at clinical sites and provide constructive feedback
Conduct site visits to evaluate student performance and program effectiveness
Develop and update clinical objectives, evaluations, and schedules
Student Success & Instruction
Maintain an 80%+ student success rate through mentorship and academic support
Teach sonography techniques in lab and classroom settings
Prepare lesson plans and deliver engaging instruction
Evaluate student competency and provide individualized guidance
Program Development
Collaborate with the Program Director to enhance curriculum
Recommend improvements to clinical education plans
Ensure compliance with accreditation standards (ARDMS, CAAHEP, etc.)
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Associate’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field (required)
Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
Graduation from an institution accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or CHEA
Certifications & Licensure
Active ARDMS certification (RDMS)
Specialization in OB/GYN and/or Abdominal Sonography (required)
Cardiac (RCS) or Vascular (RVS) certification (preferred)
Texas state licensure (or eligibility) to practice as a sonographer
Experience
3+ years of full-time clinical experience as a General, Cardiac, or Vascular Sonographer
1+ year of teaching, precepting, or training students (preferred)
Experience with accreditation compliance (CAAHEP, JRC-DMS, etc.)
Skills & Abilities
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to monitor radiation safety protocols
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus for El Paso community engagement
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods during labs/clinics
Lift up to 30 lbs (for equipment setup)
Travel to local clinical sites 2-3 times per week
