POSITION TITLE: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR General Summary The Detroit Housing Commission (DHC) is seeking a highly qualified candidate to lead and manage the agency’s budget of $71 million and portfolio that includes 6,000 housing choice vouchers, 3,700 public housing units, and 130 modernization rehabilitation units. The DHC aims to become a national leader in new affordable housing development as a self-developer.
Qualifications
A Master’s degree preferably in business administration, public administration, public finance, urban planning, public policy, urban studies, or a closely related field.
Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience with a public housing authority, non-profit housing organization, or private housing management firm.
At least five (5) years of experience with a public housing authority preferred.
Leadership or management experience in housing organizations managing public housing and housing choice voucher programs.
Candidates with exceptional academic or experience backgrounds that compensate for deficiencies may still be considered at the discretion of the DHC Board of Commissioners.
Must obtain NAHRO Certified Management Executive Certification within one year or PHADA Executive Director Education Program within two years.
