Position: Deputy Director, AHWS Department: Aging, Health and Wellness Services Reports to: Executive Director & Deputy Director of Aging, Health and Wellness Services Hours: Full-Time Salary: $76,500 - $78,000 FLSA: Exempt Location: On-site Position Summary: Under the supervision of the director the Deputy Director is responsible for planning, implementation and supervision of all aspects of the Meals on Wheels, Transportation and Volunteer Services Programs. He/she is also responsible for Senior Center Program planning (education and recreation activities/calendar), record keeping, reporting and contract compliance, and regular budgeted purchasing and budget monitoring. Responsibilities : Meals on Wheels Support, supervise and assist with problem solving for MOW Coordinator and program Review and update MOW policies and procedures regularly Ensure that client lists, files and reports are always up to date and submitted on time Review regular communications with partner agencies (East Side Case Management, Stanley Isaacs, and City Meals on Wheels and DFTA) and act as liaison with partners. Transportation Services Support, supervise and assist with problem solving for Transportation Coordinator and program Review and update Transportation Program policies and procedures regularly Ensure that client lists and files are maintained and up to date Review communications and scheduling with partner organizations (USA Senior Centers, ARC, DFTA school bus program and DFTA) Review quarterly vehicle records and needs with Transportation Coordinator Senior Centers Plan regular monthly coordinators meetings, including cross-center programming Supervise preparation of monthly calendar with input from center coordinators Review regular monthly expenditures and track food & supply expenditures Gather statistical report data and monitor in relation to contract requirements Review and update Senior Center policies and procedures regularly Volunteer Program Support, supervise and assist with problem solving for Volunteer Coordinator and program Review and update Volunteer program policies and procedures regularly Ensure that volunteer/client lists and files are maintained and up to date Review regular communications with partner agencies (FEGS, BEGIN, WEP, Easter Seals, Senior Companion Program, Easter Seals, Title V, DFTA, East Side Case Management, City Meals on Wheels and USA Development Office) and act as liaison with partners. General administrative and Supervisory Write and / or edit all written communications, reports, proposals and documents for Senior Services Participate and contribute to "major projects" such as kitchen renovation Route to appropriate staff information regarding programs and services which would be appropriate to their responsibility. Supervise other site staff as applicable and assigned by the Director Assist in identifying and bringing resources to bear on staff training needs. Identify major equipment and supply needs or changes and order supplies and equipment Represent Union Settlement Senior Services as appropriate in the NYC Aging Networks and other settings. Function in the place of the Senior Services Director in her absence Other tasks and responsibilities as specifically assigned by the director Qualifications: Masters degree in social work, Gerontology, Human Services, or related field preferred and 5 years demonstrated experience working with aging populations. At minimum, bachelors degree in social work, Gerontology, Human Services, or related field and 8 years experience working with aging population. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational, verbal, and written skills. Excellent computer skills. Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced, challenging, and constantly changing environment. Knowledge of East Harlem community. Demonstrated understanding of the challenges facing aging populations. An innovative and patient professional dedicated to serving aging populations. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
