Directs an ongoing university program to ensure that prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with its mission and/or specified objectives. Prepares short- and long-term goals and objectives. Plans, develops and administers methods, strategies and procedures for meeting program objectives; directs and oversees the daily activities of staff members. Prepares and monitors the annual budget and ensures that expenditures are within budget allocation. Directs and coordinates personally, or through subordinate personnel, activities concerned with carrying out the objectives of the program. Directs the preparation of and reviews reports and records of activities to ensure progress is being accomplished toward specified program objectives; modifies or changes methodology as required to redirect activities and attains objectives. Analyzes trends within program areas, maintaining expert awareness of program information and change needs. Formulates, implements, and maintains appropriate policies and procedures concerning program administration. Manages and administers grant for program, including meetings, communication coordination, scholarships and other operations. May prepare or participate in the preparation of proposals to obtain grants from state and federal agencies, and private foundation sponsors. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. EEO/AA The Director of Cougars in Recovery (CIR) is responsible for leading the University of Houston’s nationally recognized Collegiate Recovery program. Responsibilities include strategic planning, program development, implementation, and assessment, team member recruitment and leadership, marketing and communications, and resource planning, procurement, and management. The Director will be committed to student success, health and wellbeing, collaboration, and service and will display a high level of flexibility, organizational skills, teamwork, and innovative thinking. Job Duties ·Programs and Services oDevelop and implement the CIR strategic plan. oDevelop and implement comprehensive programs and services in support of students in an abstinence-based approach to addiction recovery and student success. oEnsure appropriate clinical oversight and supports for students in the program. oDevelop and deliver recovery education and ally programs. oDevelop and administer policies and procedures in support of the CIR mission. ·Team Member Experience oDetermine appropriate staffing needs for supporting the CIR strategic plan. oRecruit, select, supervise, and mentor professional and student staff (interns, graduate assistants, etc.). oCoordinate and plan for appropriate work distribution among team members. oSupport ongoing learning and professional development of team members. ·Marketing and Communications oDevelop, implement, and manage the CIR brand in alignment with the Health and Wellbeing team, Division of Student Affairs, and University of Houston branding. oDevelop and implement marketing and communications materials and activities, and work with community partners, to recruit students into the CIR program. oDevelop and implement communications to continuously engage and support CIR students in the program. oDevelop and implement marketing and communications materials and activities to educate stakeholders and the community about recovery and the benefits and success of the CIR program. oDevelop and implement marketing and communications materials and outreach activities in support of stakeholder and community engagement to support the program. ·Resources oDetermine appropriate financial, facility, equipment, technology, and other resource needs for supporting the CIR strategic plan. oDevelop and manage the CIR budget, financial transactions, and reporting. oPlan for and oversee the operational management of CIR facilities including working with partners in Student Housing and Residential Life and Facilities. oPlan and oversee the procurement and management of equipment, supplies, promotional items, and materials to support the program. oCollaborate with advancement and other partners in proposal writing and other materials to secure grants, sponsorships, and philanthropic support for the program. ·Health and Wellbeing Common Agenda oContribute as a member of the Health and Wellbeing Leadership Team, building a philosophical approach of as a foundation for student success. oSupport and embed the common agenda: “” into the CIR program. oCollaborate with other Health and Wellbeing departments, where appropriate, to enhance comprehensive health and wellness programs and services, and lead strategies to create more wellbeing at the University of Houston. ·Division, University, Industry oServe as a senior leader within the Division of Student Affairs, contributing to planning, implementation, and assessment of the division’s strategic plan and ensuring the CIR team’s engagement and alignment. oServe as a senior leader at the University of Houston including engagement (including committee participation) and alignment with strategy, brand, and activities. oRepresent CIR on internal and external campus leadership groups to promote recovery as a priority on campus. oConsult and cultivate partnerships and collaborations with internal and external partners and stakeholders (including students, faculty, staff, and community) to ensure the success of CIR. oServe as a leading industry expert locally, regionally, and nationally, contributing to the continued evolution of the field and enhancing the University of Houston’s reputation as a leader in Collegiate Recovery.
Qualifications
Bachelors and 3 years experience Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. Required Qualifications: ·Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in public health, social work, psychology, education, public administration, or related field. ·Three (3) years or more of administrative experience in collegiate recovery or similar youth or young adult community recovery programs. ·Demonstrated knowledge and experience in program development, staff leadership, and budget management. ·Strong communications skills and effectiveness in stakeholder engagement and collaboration. ·Strong organizational skills and innovative thinking. ·Understanding of, and commitment to, student success. Desired Qualifications: ·Master’s degree from an accredited university or college in public health, social work, psychology, higher education, or related field. ·Five (5) years or more of administrative experience in collegiate recovery or similar youth or young adult community recovery programs. ·Certification in Addiction and Recovery, Chemical Dependency, Recovery Coaching. ·Training and/or experience in addiction sciences and recovery research. ·Currently eligible for licensure as a LPC, LMSW, PhD Psychology, LMFT in Texas. ·Knowledge and experience in student affairs, student development, and student success. ·Broad knowledge of health and wellbeing in higher education. ·Previous experience fundraising and/or conducting outreach and engagement activities.
