Overview The primary duty of the Construction Management Business Class Director is to provide strategic national focus on positioning HDR as a preferred provider for construction services in the water infrastructure industry. The Director provides Business Group-wide leadership regarding CM business development, project delivery, and group leadership/communications. The role includes codifying best practices, tools, templates, protocols, and other intelligence to sustain successful Construction Management delivery across the Business Group. This position reports to the WBG Service Delivery Director. Responsibilities Business Development: Maintain market intelligence on competition, potential partners, acquisitions, and new hires; capture HDR and competition SOQs, proposals, presentations, scopes of work with associated fees; ensure CM pursuit targets and client maintenance plans across regions; support capture planning, preproposal activities, qualifications, and proposal preparation to standardize HDR CM business development; provide marketing support to improve HDR’s win rate; maintain List of Major CM or PM/CM or OA/CM projects; maintain toolkits and SharePoint sites; implement Presentation/Interview training workshops for Senior Construction Managers. Project Delivery: Capture and disseminate CM delivery lessons learned; ensure use of HDR best practices, templates, and protocols for consistent CM delivery coast to coast; work with other BCDs on delivery of current projects and long-term tactical plans for water construction services; provide principal-level project management and issue resolution; track project delivery costs against budget and incorporate lessons learned into future scope/fee development; maintain CM/CI resources and perform CM resource planning; lead PARR reviews and train staff to be Lead Reviewers; perform occasional site audits; promote use of RAKEN Field Reporting App and update HDR Technical Guidelines; manage annual license renewals and coordinate purchases; promote and administer use of Newforma Construction Administration; serve as WBG point of contact for CMIS questions; update HDR Construction Management Manual and related forms, ensuring CM access across the group. Leadership and Communications: Reinvigorate CM Practice Community; plan regular CM Practice calls; collaborate with Field Services teams and participate in Field Services Steering Committee; lead CMAA engagement and represent HDR as a CMAA member; coordinate CMAA dues and sponsorships; identify HDR projects for CMAA awards; maintain CCM designation awareness; oversee CM staff development with training plans and sessions. Qualifications Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering with 15+ years of experience in managing construction delivery programs for the water infrastructure industry; PE or related professional certifications desirable. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a professional field (Engineering, Architecture, or related); minimum 10 years of related experience; professional registration and related technical experience; experience in development and management of diverse teams; ability to collaborate with other BCDs, operations managers, and marketing managers; commitment to quality and HDR values; active participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture. This position can be located in any HDR US office.
