DIRECTOR OF MUSIC MINISTRY St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Hickory, North Carolina St. Aloysius Church is located in Hickory, NC, near the Blue Ridge Mountains, north of Charlotte. The Director of Music Ministry (DMM) is a full-time position responsible for overseeing the music ministry, including planning and coordinating liturgical and other services. Below are specific aspects of the current music program at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Work with and train volunteer and paid musicians. Responsible for accompanying (piano/organ) and directing choirs, cantors, and instrumentalists during rehearsals and services. Coordinate with paid musicians and manage their schedules and compensation.

Select hymns for Masses and services. Coordinate hymn selection for Sunday Masses at 8:00 am and 11:00 am, and Saturday 5:15 pm Mass, including cantor rotation. Plan music for Holy Days, special Masses (Healing, First Communion, Confirmation), Christmas, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, funerals, weddings, and other occasions like Stations of the Cross, Eucharistic Congress, and Advent services.

Prepare for and staff rehearsals for choirs and cantors. Manage rehearsals for adult and children's choirs, including scheduling and preparation.

Administrative functions. Maintain instruments and equipment, attend meetings, and manage subscriptions and materials. Prepare an annual music ministry budget and ensure volunteers and staff are trained (e.g., VIRTUS). Manage liturgical banners and prepare programs for major Masses, ensuring copyright permissions are obtained.

Other duties. Meet with wedding couples to plan music and assist with wedding programs. Stay current with liturgical and church documents. Perform other duties as assigned by the pastor.

Experience and education. Bachelor of Music or related field, or equivalent experience. Choral directing experience preferred; organ playing a plus. Knowledge of sacred music and Catholic liturgy; active Catholic preferred.

Other skills. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Conversational Spanish a plus.
