Summary of Position Chihowa Retreat Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to oversee and manage the operations of our outdoor retreat space. This full-time, on-site role includes housing and benefits. The candidate should be passionate about outdoor hospitality, facilities management, and community engagement, ensuring an exceptional guest experience while maintaining and improving the campground’s facilities.
Essential Functions
Operations and Facilities Management
Perform maintenance, safety, and upkeep of all campground facilities, including cabins, trails, common areas, and recreational spaces
Oversee projects
Manage utility systems, including water, septic, and electrical operations
Ensure compliance with regulations regarding campground safety and environmental impact
Guest and Community Relations
Serve as the primary contact for guests, campers, and rental groups
Foster a welcoming environment for all visitors
Develop and maintain relationships with local organizations and community partners
Work with local groups to promote and expand the campground’s use and assist in marketing efforts
Be available during events to ensure safety and resolve issues
Manage staff & volunteers: recruit, train, oversee schedules
Financial Oversight & Administration: support budget planning, submit expense reports
Oversee bookings, contracts, and agreements
Other duties as assigned
Required Competencies/Skills
Leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple projects
Facilities maintenance, outdoor recreation, or property management experience
Mechanical skills including HVAC repair
Operate equipment like tractors and mowers
Trades skills (plumbing, electrical, carpentry)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Flexible hours including weekends and evenings
Financial management knowledge
Desired Competencies/Skills
Website management and basic IT skills
Experience with lake, lagoon, and pool operations
Wastewater operator training
Lifeguard or water safety certification
Leadership and employee management experience
Forestry and land stewardship knowledge
Supervisory Responsibility Yes
