Overview Tufts University Advancement seeks a dynamic, experienced professional to serve as Associate Director of Trusts and Estates. The Advancement Division (UA) is a comprehensive development and alumni engagement enterprise with approximately 200 full-time employees. Its units include development/fundraising, alumni engagement, stewardship and donor relations, special events, gift processing, research and prospect management, gift planning, corporate and foundation relations, and information systems and management. UAs mission is to build strong relationships with Tufts Universitys constituents, match donor interests with the Universitys needs and priorities, and secure the necessary financial resources to support excellence in teaching, research, and scholarship. The Gift Planning Team The team helps donors maximize their gifts through financial, estate, and tax planning, working with donors and advisors to incorporate charitable interests into estate plans and establish income-generating gifts such as bequests, retirement plan gifts, life insurance policies, charitable gift annuities, and charitable remainder trusts. They also manage gifts of complex assets like real estate, business interests, and art. What You'll Do We seek a motivated, results-driven individual with experience in estate and life income gift administration, excellent communication skills, a customer-service orientation, and strong organizational abilities. Reporting to the Senior Director, Gift Planning, the Associate Director manages all estate gifts intended for Tufts, ensuring timely and accurate receipt and administration. This role serves as the primary contact for estate fiduciaries and collaborates with university colleagues and legal/financial advisors for proper fund allocation. Additionally, the position oversees the administration of a life income gift program comprising over 400 gifts, managing setup, documentation, compliance, and beneficiary inquiries. The role includes managing the Assistant Director of Trusts and Estates and overseeing gift planning data and analytics. Please include a cover letter with your application. Thank you. What We're Looking For Basic Requirements 5-7 years of related professional experience in gift planning, law, estate planning, personal trust, or financial services. Bachelors degree Experience reviewing/drafting complex financial and legal documents; understanding of financial and estate planning vehicles. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Goal-oriented with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Customer service orientation and confidentiality awareness. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree or law degree preferred. Experience managing staff preferred. Pay Range Minimum $94,600; Midpoint $118,250; Maximum $141,900.
