Overview The Associate Director, Medical Strategy & Operational Excellence - Global Medical Capabilities (GMC) leads the strategic plan and initiatives for GMC, which includes Medical Information, Global Access Mechanisms, Congress Excellence, Field Medical Training & Excellence, and Governance, Risk & Control. This role reports to the Head of Global Medical Strategy & Execution (S&E) and supports the Head of GMC and the GMC leadership team. It provides leadership, insights, and coordination to drive business agility, facilitates customer-specific deliverables, and ensures compliance standards are met. The position operates in a matrixed environment, prioritizing work across five functional areas and contributing to the Global Medical S&E Team to align with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). What You’ll Do Drive execution through strategic planning, annual goal setting, and budget oversight; lead annual planning processes with Finance and HR to ensure workforce and activity plans support goals; manage annual goal setting and progress to meet strategic objectives. Collaborate to develop the GMC team vision, scope, and objectives; foster accountability, trust, and respect; identify and lead continuous improvement of barriers to execution. Oversee budget from development through execution; track expenditures against POs, complete monthly financial reports, and support LT with budget line allocation and onboarding on finance workflows (accruals vs. invoices, PO processes, budget tracking tools). Drive strategic communications and reporting for senior leadership; develop and manage strategic content and dashboards with outcome metrics for cross-functional engagement. Foster operational excellence by leveraging Strategy & Execution network synergies to drive creative solutions, consistency, and awareness across worldwide Medical; promote compliance through training and knowledge of systems. Education/Required Skills Bachelors degree required; advanced degree preferred. Minimum 5+ years in Pharma, Biotechnology, or Life Sciences industry; Medical Affairs operations and/or Commercial functional knowledge preferred. Experience in project management and/or finance, including strategy and long-range planning; strong facilitation and timely execution skills required. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills; strong emotional intelligence; collaborative, team-oriented approach with a solid work ethic. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to work accurately and resourcefully. Ability to anticipate issues and propose or take steps to resolve them; strong strategic and critical thinking skills; strong business acumen. Self-starter with ability to work independently or in teams; willingness to innovate and improve business processes and systems. Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint; SharePoint experience or ability to maintain a department intranet site is strongly preferred; experience with Smartsheet or similar PM platforms strongly preferred. Additional Information The base compensation range for this role is: $159,000.00-$219,000.00. Base salary is determined through an analytical approach considering skills, experience, location, and internal equity. Regular employees are eligible for short-term and long-term incentives, including cash bonuses and equity opportunities, based on performance.
